David - sure does look like the tank for a 126 to me (as well as any other IH CC unit built prior to the Quiet Line series and having a 12, 14 or 16hp engine). Ooh, most of the time they also have a cap

o.d.???

OOOH. DEEE???!!!

Had enough of that color back in '64!
Three years as a matter of fact!!
It's gonna be yeller, gots to find a cap yet tho!

Dave, IH white is the OEM color,

under edit Thanks for setting me straight Matt

Not for a 126 it isn't. I've never seen anything other than an 86, 1x8/9 with a white gas tank.

Matt G - yes thank you again for setting Jeff straight. His old habits are hard to break.

For the longest time I know Jeff thought the only Cub Cadets worth their existence were the 1x9 Wide Frame Hydro series, and that's probably why he said IH white for the gas tank.

The olive drab tanks are what Kohler sold as replacements until they started making them all out of plastic.

Been a while since I have been here - hope all is well with everyone?

I have been working on my 982 lately, installing the Sims cab finally and the 450 blower. Ran into a snag tonight though with the blower. I bought the extender plates last year from one of the site's sponsors and put them on the shelf for when I was ready to install on the 982. Last year the 450 went on the 782 and I didn't need them. Just wondering if there is two possibilities for these plates? The one's I received don't line up right, or am I missing something???

Looks like they were made on a friday,if you turn it 90° do the holes line up?

Mike,

The proportions even look wrong when compared to the Online Parts lookup drawing and Extreme Motorworks website photo.

I am guessing that you were sent the wrong part.

Happens.

We did have a couple of sets that were bent along the wrong axis and they are too long and too narrow. Here is a pic of the parts on our shelf and an original one.

Good info all, Thanks Guys!
To tell the truth, I don't remember where that tank came from, as the 126 was tankless as well as many other partsless when I got it.

David - I thought that tank looked familiar. I was passing thru Iowa couple years ago with a cub that had a replacement Koler engine in satin black and tank mounted to it. When I came out of the motel in the morning someone had swiped the tank. Easiest to tell if it was mine by just scraping a little of that black paint. If its nice and shiny brite metal underneath them its mine. I'll send you an email with my address where you can send it
