hi all i have a question on my dad 70 it has a rear PTO can this be removed by taking the rear cover plat off ore is there more to it then that i looked at the parts diagram but it really dont show show thanks in avance

Darren, it's more involved than that. I have the installation manual, I can email it to you if you would like. It's 12 pages and would be about 3MB as a zip file. Or click HERE and download a pdf version.

Well, We finally got some snow last night.
Somewhere around 6 inches. Took the 1450 out and got to clear out the drives and part of the County Road in front of my house. What a blast!
The blade I got from Kevin Sanders really does a great job. Kevin answered my add in the classifieds wanted section of this Forum. What a nice young man. Any way I am grateful for this Forum and the wealth of information that is here.
Thanks to you, I now have a tractor rather than an old "mower" that was going to the scrap yard.
Brad

BTW,
Has anyone ever used ATV tires on thier tractors?
My 1450 came with a set of 25X10.50-12 Woolie Boogers and they seem to do really well. I also have 50 lb. wheel weights. I was going to change them out and put a set of Ag tires on, but these are like new and really seem to do good on snow.
I only have about an inch or so of clearance under the fenders, so chains wouldn't be an option anyway. But so far haven't needed them.

Does anyone know what size bolts are used on a Brinly sleeve hitch? Thanks, Greg

BRAD - Yes, Been a couple CC's use ATV tires on the back. To be honest, They seem to hook up better than the rear ag tires. If they're working for You I wouldn't change them. There's I think a total of eight bolts under the seat, four by the battery and either two or four more by the seat hinges You can space UP Your fenders to get clearance for chains if You need to. Probably also have to loosen the rear bolts on the foot rests and shim them up too. If You already have an inch of clearance You would only need maybe another half inch of room.
My Buddy has a BIG Polaris 4WD ATV He pushes snow with, 54" wide blade and about 1-1/2 ft tall....He can push snow so deep with that thing it rolls over the top of the blade. But then with 700-800 CC's of EFI twin cylinder power He has more HP than My FARMALL I push snow with...less weight but much better traction.

Well it finally turned white outside. Ice and sleet. Nothing to get the cub out for. I might get the CCO out to pull the boys on their sled. Have about an inch. No school for them.

thanks Kraig if you could email me that that would be great
thanks again

Brad R I have A Pair of Carlisle 23x10.50-12 ALL Trail rears that I used last year at a couple of PD's. They worked out pretty well! Now I have chains (on the tires)for snowthrower duty & I very happy with them. Use plenty of weight & U should in good shape!

Brad, You may be ok with an inch of clearance and chains. Most atv tires, wollie boogers included, can change circumference easily. Let the air out then tighten the chains the best you can then air them up again. Most of us do it this way with ags. I think that would work even better with atv tires. Heck, they'll even gain 3" circumference with speed.

Brendan B.-

I have to disagree. You want as much space as you can get. No matter how tight you get the chains, they can hit the fenders when a wheel starts spinning and wreck the fender. I almost had this happen to the 782 last month. I was going to chain up a set of ATV tires for it, but I decided not to after that

I've run chains on Cubbies with no more than 1-1/2" of clearance and never had a problem. And I don't even run them tight, no tarp straps or bungie cords across them. It's not like Your going to get ANY centrifugal tire growth at eight miles per hour. Adding lots of air pressure, Maybe.

I bet a stock 782 set of fenders barely has 1-1/2 inches of clearance some places with std. 23-10.50 X 12 tires.

Kraig,
Yes, that's the picture that I patterned my receiver after.
Thanks Richard C !

MAN I wish Wyatt wasn't so busy at work so He could post more..... He had more posts on that page from 2004 than He's made here in the last year!

Mike M,
Do you have a Kohler service manual?
What size is the carb?
New or used carb?
Did you rebuild the carb if itwas used?
Did you set carb to Kohler's preliminary settings?
How old is the fuel?
What condiation is the inside of the gas tank(rust)?
New spark plug? What brand?
New paint on motor?
New wire harness on the 125?
How old is the battery?
Why a 14 horse piston?

Thanks guys for the info, as of now, I don't think I'll need chains. Haven't so much as slipped a wheel much yet. I am pleased with the set up I have so far... We'll see how well they perform with more snow than 6". Forecast is for more snow tonight and tomorrow.
Thanks, Brad
