If'n ya want Mike C. and I'll be up next weekend to bring some of your Cubs and manuals here to Iowa so that you won't have to move them way up north.

Tristan S. Which tractor would mean more to you? Your first Cub Cadet (129) or the 126. Now if you did purchase the 126 you could swap the hitch components for ones for your 129. Decks usually don't bring much unless someone really needs one and even then ... not much. I started out with just our 1961 Original and then bought the 125 about six months later. Money wasn't much easier then and it still isn't. When word started getting out that I like Cub Cadets then people started coming to me. My first plow and narrow frame front blade were given to me. I found another almost pristine narrow frame blade at a salvage yard for $20.00. It was in the spring and someone couldn't sell it on a garage sale. As others have stated... "cheaper is better." Patience is a fantastic thing.

It's 4* outside. It snowed about an inch last night and the snow drifts from Friday's blowing snow are hard as a rock. Maybe after bit I'll fire up the "D".

Tristian, Here are a couple things to consider. Your 129 is a wide frame the 126 is a narrow frame. They both have the same hp. The 126 is a gear drive, if it does not have a creeper you probably won't be able to rototill with it because you won't able to slow it down enough. With the 129 you have a hydro, infinite number of speeds.
Also on that 129, you can find a ported hydro and put hydraulic lift on it or look for a 149 with hydro lift on it already.
Even though that 126 sounds like a good deal, I wouild put the money into the 129 you'll be money ahead in the long run.

Hey everyone just wanted to ask everyones opinion on what they thought of the 682 cubs found one for sale and how hard are they to find attachments for
Thanks Matt

Matt "W",
682 good solid tractor, but hand lift. If the money is right go for it, but I'd keep a eye open for a 782.

Tom
Is there a place on this site or any other site that will tell information about each model and the attachments that will fit on it
Thanks Matt

MATT - The "Home Page" of this site shows a lot of info about years and features of the different models and serial numbers.

Far as attachements fitting, early attachments normally fit mostly only early tractors, but IH was very good about making later attachments fit current and early tractors. rear attachments use the Cub Cadet 3-point hitch, Brinley attachments hook on with the Brinley adapter to the IH 3-point, Front attachments fit on the frt quick-attach mounts or can bolt on securely to early tractors, adapting brackets fit on the front for mid-mount attachments like the mower decks.
Stuff from the Original CC Allied products and attachment guides still fit 682/782's made 20 yrs later. It's not like other manufacturers of lawn & garden equip. where a serial such-and-such takes a "SPECIAL" version of an attachment or model number. IH made this EASY.

There's a few things (maybe TWO!) You have to be careful of when buying attachments. If We knew what You were looking for We can help You get the right stuff.

Thanks Dennis.I will keep that all in mind when shopping for my first cub.I havent made a move yet but I like to do my homework first. Thanks guys
Matt

Matt W. By chance is the 682 the one near Prague, Ne? Ask about and check the engine. If it is a Series I or Series II. A Series I could spell trouble. It appears to be in good shape and looks to be IH built. I noticed the owner has the proverbial "or best offer." Offer $625 or 650.00. You can always go up. Plus it has been on the board for a few days.

That would be the one Marlin was just looking at it not sure what I,m going to do yet.Are those hard to find attachments for? What is the thing with the series 1 or 2 engines? Thanks
Matt
