Mark G - hey did you get the timing set "right on the line"? We're wondering how it runs now.

Don T - where's the other half of your Cubs? No pics? No reports? It's past Friday and we want to see the stuff.

Dennis - are you saying that IH assigned a "model year" to the CC's?

HARRY - Nope, NO model year, just a model number. They did keep track of serieal number breaks between changes of components that effected service parts that changed in the same model number series, ie Running changes.

I think FARMALL did that more on the big tractors than LVL did on CC's.

Well I bladed the snow off the drive and that is it for today. I did unload some small parts , found what I think is a spring assist ! the outside temp is -17 today and +8 tomorrow; So in the am we will unload the two cubs and snow blower, blade and go back for the other two cubs and blades , decks ect. I will post better pictures after I get them home and unloaded.

Charlie,
That's carzy a$$ cold. What's a warm day in the summer up that-a-way, 33?

Charlie "Digger" Proctor

Your farther north than me lol. this is an extra cold day here. I did blade snow without any gloves. It will be nice to get above freezing tomorrow for the trip for the rest of my parts and tractors. I`am done buying cubs now and have many extra parts to keep my Cubs Running. The one deck I will get next trip is refurbed and looks new . I`am think to install it on my 125 . That is going to be a sweet looking tractor and will replace the craftsman mower that I bought in 1992; it Still runs but has an engine knock in the 15 hp briggs

I would like to know if a deck/sub frame from a 122 sub frame and deck fit on my 125???? It has new blades , spindles and all other parts replace and painted . ?

Don: I don't doubt they'll fit with a little modification but isn't the 122 a "pin-on" deck like the 123 and the 125 deck & subframe quick connect?

Frank A. Currier(Northern Maine)

Frank ; you could be correct. I have no clue if it will fit. but I do have the 125 sub frame ,it is not painted up pretty like the one with the deck for the 122. I also have a nf three point lift with the lift bar that to have to see what Cub to use that on .

I don't like QL's, except for 800's, but some time you can't pass one up. This one came with some extras, not as good as a "Charlie deal", but there is wheel weights, new steering column, creeper gear, couple of brinly adapters, belts, arm rest kit, wheel studs for dual wheels, new parts still in the bags, the original front wheels (tractor has newer 1" spindles and wheels) with 16-6.5X8 Firestone tires with the town and country tread normally seen on rear tires, and other STUFF sill in boxes.

Kind a looks like you did good there. I think it is great when you buy them and they are ready to go to work !

Paul B.- Nice find! I think a few of us who like the 800 would have longed to have one that looked like that

Update on the 1650:

Reworked the engine cradle mod today. The previous welding attempt looked great, but pulled the engine cradle brackets inward on one end enough that nothing fit. Ground everything back apart and started again.

This time, I assembled the engine cradle brackets with isolators and oil pan into the tractor and tacked the cross member I was adding. That worked pretty good. Took the cradle assy out of the tractor and proceeded to finish the welding of the cross member. Bad news, got a little movement or draw-in from the heat of the weld to make the front two holes near the cross piece a tad to close to allow the screws to go straight into the oil pan. The engine cradle weldment otherwise fits back in the tractor and on the isolators pretty good. I will take a dremel tool and oblong the front holes a bit to allow the screws to go into the oil pan.

I hope this cradle mod makes the isolators last a LONG time, because this part of the tractor effort has been a pain in the buttox. It makes solid mounts vs isolators somewhat an attractive option.

The good news is - there have been two engines in the life of this tractor and with the box of parts I got with it came enough isolators, top and bottom to do two engines - a total of 16 isolators. I have sorted through the isolators and found what I believe are the 8 top isolators (between two engines) and they are in pretty good shape, so I've got what amounts to new isolators for this install.

Later tonight I may grind out the holes oblong like I mentioned earlier and tomorrow if the weather is favorable, I am going to power wash the front - steering column forward. After that I'm going to give the axle clevis a pinch with a nut/bolt to tighten up the axle play. I've got to install a new fan, check/decarbon the head and re-assemble the engine into the tractor and I should be getting near the point I can fire-up this tractor.

Frank C., Jim "S" Steele was the furthest thing from a 1ndone.. He used to post almost non-stop it seemed. He was also one of the "correct police" crew. I seem to remember his dad also worked for IH or Farmall. Then one day he made a statement about mowing a rather tall patch of grass in 3rd gear with a 7 hp CC and getting an almost perfect cut... He was called out for that and tempers flared etc. etc. etc... Hasn't been seen or heard from since.. sigh..

I have a manual clutch out of a narrow frame and want to inspect the throwout bearing to see if it is bad. What do I check or look for?
