Speaking of screwdrivers, I have an older set of Craftsman Industrial ones. I don't think they even sell the Industrial line any more. They do have a Professional line, but they are quite different. I always thought mine were pretty good, but maybe I don't know what "good" is.

Dang , now I did it ,I knocked off the grease fitting on the spindle. Any body got any good ideas how to get it out. I rebuild the steering box and could hardly steer this 125 and now think the grease is gone hard. So I would like to take it apart and clean the crap out and put in new grease.

Mr.Tanner

Remove the spindle and use a roll pin punch to hit it through the other side.Replace it with one you can tap or one you press in.

Just thought I would share what my good wife got me for Xmas, She thought The electric impact would be great if we needed to change tires on my fifth wheel on our trip. and the counter rotation saw that has two blades that cut anything. I thought I should at least get them out of there boxes to see if they work lol.

Have you guys used the cutting tool for anything. I don`t think it would be much good for fine wood work. looks like it removes a lot of stock

I think we need a tool thread in the Sandbox.

Had some snow here in Northern ILL (not enough for pictures). Got some seat time on the 129 pusher and also preped the 149 for a QA 36 if needed this year.

I think that post should have a picture to best describe what I did . Thought of using a chrapsman driver . lol I`am open to ideas !

Jeff, actually I would think tool discussions should go in The Machine Shop forum.

UNDER EDIT: An occasional post about a tool should be OK here. It would be the more detailed discussion of a tool that would go in The Machine Shop forum.

Kraig could delete that post. I thought something to look at is better than a page that takes two days till a new one comes. I think

Mr. Tanner,

Looks like you have to remove the spindle first as stated in my preview post... hehehe your floor is very clean.

Melody S,

The idler pulleys are farther forward on 82 series mule drives compared to 1X8/9 & Quietline (QL) series mule drives. This is because 82 series have the electric PTO clutch pulley mounted farther forward of the front axle. I may be wrong don't think you can use a 8/9/QL mule drive on an 82 series. It will fit on the frame alright but belt alignment will be an issue between the PTO pulley and the idler pulleys. It may work for while but the belt longevity may be a problem. Also, 82 series use a 5/8" wide belt so ideally your 42 deck would need a wider pulley sheeve to work properly.
Hope this helps.

Does the pin sit in a taper ? And would I just pound it back ? I dropped my multi arm swing press and broke off the grease fitting. To old and decrepit here lol.

Ron S, Thank you for the response. I thought things looked different. With the bigger belt and all. Guess I'll rebuild the mule drive and see if I can find another deck.I put on a wide frame plow frame yesterday and it just clears the frame. But it works. I have all sorts of snow removal equipment and no snow. I guess its good I don't have to go out in the cold.

Don-
Here's what Lewis is saying....

Remove the spindle from the axle, the use a punch and a hammer to drive the remaining piece further into the hole (it's not tapered) until it pushes into the spindle hole and falls to the ground.

Then just tap a new one in with your "multi-arm swing press" and you should be good to go unless you go all "ape" and break another one off...

Charlie,
It is just a muffler....

Mr.Tanner,
Atay,is a good translator. That is what I was trying to say...

nice muffler find Charlie and yes its a good reason to be excited

HMMmmm.. that muffler doesn't do a thing for me!

Don T., is that a push in fitting or threaded. Check the other side as it probably would be the same. If it's tapped, I'd drill up the center of the old zerk, til I ALMOST touched the existing threads. Then run a tap in enough to install a new zerk.

If it is a push in type, then follow previous recommendations. my 2 cents /fwiw/ymmv
