Luther Hinds. Same for you as I just wrote Scott. If you make it to Iowa .... look me up. We'll find a Cub for you to plow with.

Marlin; Thank you.
I could bring one tractor to iowa but, I have got one ready to give the kids so it has to go instead of a plow tractor.

Actually, it's not THAT long a drive to PD....Last PD I went to @ Travis's Ken Updike rode along....We met up with Wyatt @ Monona, IA and when We got to Travis's Wyatt turned into the PD field and I had to wait for Hank Will to turn in coming from te otehr direction....He'd left from Gettysburg PA about NOON Friday, slept in a rest area along I-80 someplace, probably around Ottawa, IL for a couple hours, and was at the PD field before 8 AM. Hank drove solo, Left His Wife home to take care of the College. Hank didn't plow but I bet He took 1000 pictures and talked to EVERYONE there.

Matt, Scott, Ken, Todd, and anyone else who reponded to my no spark problem, thanks. Last night I sanded down the points and then we got some spark. I learned alot with this expierence. Now to get that carb adjusted...

I too will be waiting to see how that dash comes out. The last time I repaired fiberglass was on a 1970 Artic Cat Panther I redid for my brothers. I had good luck by roughing up the surface, and at the point where old meets new, I took a pick and scraped the old resins away from the fibers to leave them exposed, I then kind of 'wove' the new glass strands in with the old for strength.... seemed to work ok.... HTH

Scott Tanner... The 149 has a 107 playmate now.... (Stanner)_ Scott i have repaired everything form big truck fenders (crack from edge of wheel well) to a rudder on a sail boat .I have covered wooden decks with glass and all other types of glass repair Most important thing is surface prep! and what stress will be added after repair.Polyester resin is great for most repairs but epoxy resin has different strengths. you have to know what to use where. any area on fiberglass must be sanded first and cleaned to get a good bond and must be repaired soon after cleaning. sanded area exposed to the air for 5 days will not bond and will need to be prepped again before bonding new material. I will write up a repair and take pictures and send them to Kraiq to post for me. this will take some time as to make this simple so most people can do the repair easily and get a good repair. I also have a broken seat pan here that i will repair also. I must get my 129 loader finished also so i will split my time and get the message out on the how to fiberglass repair.I`am sure Kraiq can do a better job of posting what i want than i can and welcome his agreement to help

Looking forward to it, Don!! The dash is the last hurdle on my 149 restore... I will make a form like you did this weekend...

DON - I think they give out a Door Prise @ PD's to the person who travels the furthest to attend. You'd be a Sure bet to win that prize!

And I'd hijack a plane before I'd pay all that $$$$ for gas!
Seriously, We're all looking forward to Your tips on Fiberglass repair the Correct way....including the use of PPE. I've done it once on the 129 and lived to tell about it and Me and the repair lived... Seems like there's an appropriate saying about "Fools and Luck" somewhere.

Denny, not sure if Hank sent me all the photos he took, but he did send me 416 photos from that PD, which by the way, was Plow Day 9. I only took 150 or so photos at that PD but I also took about an hour of video.

Scott, funny, the last time I did any fiberglass work was on a 1976 Arctic Cat El Tigre' 5000. The 1972 Arctic Cat 292 Panther we had was in perfect condition (my parents bought it new in '72) and didn't need any work but the El Tigre' we bought used and the belly pan had some issues. That was back in the early 1980's. I know I have photos somewhere but they would need to be scanned.... Hmmm, sounds like a good weekend project.

Looking forward to your dash repair. I have repaired a couple of them using glass cloth and or mat and polyester resin, but with some mixed results. I don't think the dash is really fiberglass, but believe it is injection molded of fiber reinforced plastic.....but I could be wrong

KRAIG - My Sister actually graduated from Gettysburg College, the school Hank's Wife, "HYDRO-GAL" was President of. My Dad had talked to Him several times but I'd never met him until THAT PD....and I remember He was out standing in plowed ground taking pic's as I came up plowing on the 72....and caught Me right as trash built up under the tractor and I "High-Centered" and ground to a halt right in front of Him! I hope He didn't send THOSE Pic's to You!
lol.gif

"Hydro-Gal" has the distinction of being the ONLY person I've ever seen on the Internet driving a lawn & garden tractor THROUGH their house.

On another note....Found a couple VCR tapes of PD#1 & #2 last night....while I'm hooking up a new A/V receiver today I'm going to make sure My Wife and I can enjoy a couple hours of GOOD Entertainment tonight when She gets home. I'm sure She'll really be excited!

Scott S,
There is are two plow days in PA in late April.
Email me if you want more info. Or I'll post the info here if the admin. say its ok.

Re:Arctic Cat, oh yes the good old 292 JLO ,Hirth etc. motors--LOL

To keep on topic, I think I'll sharpen the blades on the 1250 this weekend

To All:

Regards to dash repair, rebuilt my 1250 dash several years ago. I used cloth for the back up then on top of that used some stuff that Bond-Do makes-- It is like regular bondo but it has resin in it & when it sets up is much harder than regular Bond-Do. Is's holding up well- not wearing very much from the hood vibration.

KRAIG - Just How Many pic's of CC's do You have?
dunno.gif

Looks like a bit of bean straw was starting to ball up straight down from the center of the bottom of the grill in the head-on pic, and in the other pic was about ready to plug My plow up. So that's a Before & After pic from when We shook hands.

Man....what a SHOCK to to check in on the Forum and see YOURSELF looking back at You! SCARY!
