I was talking about the size of the pulley. The 45x blower are really picky about having the correct diameter PTO pulley.

The PTO on the 1650 is a 1/2" V-pulley and 72 series up is a full 5/8" as well. I'm bettin that even if you did get it mounted, you would eat belts right and left. LOL

Thanks again Digger, It will be a bit before it is ready to mount and run but when I get it done will let you know how I made out..

Wayne S., Yes, the crankshaft counterweights can be altered to reduce the amount of transmitted vibration. This can be done by adding additional mass to the counterweights in the form of a plate or insertion of heavy metal plugs.

Mike F., Thank you for the information. I've started a spreadsheet with your info plus some other data that I've collected over the years. I encourage other forum members and "engine guys" to post or send this information on their Kohler engine parts. I will tally this information into a database where an engine builder can easily calculate the balance factor for his engine and determine if it is going to be a vibrator.

I'm interested in doing this as the aftermarket parts suppliers have piston assemblies that are much more massive than the original Kohler parts and this is the main contributor to high vibration in these engines.

A friend of mine brought his 169 (yes...a 13 finner) over along with the deck and undercarriage to see if we could get it set up for this spring. The deck is a 50c and had these type of bolts holding on the pulley cover.

I told my friend they weren't OEM but he thought they might be. All 8 bolts were the same and somehow held a nut. I showed him a couple of other decks all of which had the regular 5/16" bolts. I told him I would verify it through the forum tonight and that made him happy. Oh, all of the bolts were "tapped" in the deck and had to be unscrewed from the underside. You can imagine how many threads were in the hole...about one. I told him we were going to weld the correct bolts in to make things more original.

I hope I'm right here. These bolts just didn't make any sense to me. Am I right???

This 169 has had a hard life. Howard (friend) watched this tractor for over a year sitting out in a field. He stopped and asked if it could be bought and the man said it belonged to his son. He then said his son owed him some money so yes, it can be bought. I think he gave $200 for it.

Howard then found me through my small engine repair guy and I (we) went through the things needing the most attention like the trunion slot repair. We even went through the pump and it was in remarkable shape for having sat outside so long. The engine was missing the dip stick leaving the tube open to the elements but the engine now runs strong with no smoke. Go figure. The front axle pivot pin was half out so that had to be fixed and was the main reason he brought it to me.

Those are body bolts.....from the Hillman isle at the local hardware store. Not IH.

Charlie, yep, he's got plenty of snow there to move and he his 1650 are doing a nice job. I agree with Shultzie on the cab. Oh, and from the back he looks like Frosty Blunier™...

Looks like he's getting a lot of overflow across the upper edge of the housing. I'd be for adding an extra deflector at that point.
Maybe he needs one of those 2 stage add on augers on top of the lower one!!
I saw an article on these once, they were offered by a Co. in NY I believe. Maybe in the allied equipment section.
