Doug, nice job. Wheels on a snowthrower has been done before. Here's a setup that Brian Jordan did to his QA42A:

The Grand Experiment! I added some wheels to my QA42A skids to see if I can eliminate the twin scrapes it leaves behind on my drive way. I had a couple of MTD 5" gauge wheels laying around so I drilled a hole centered in each skid and bolted them on. I had to add about 5 3/8's washers to each skid bolt to give clearance to the nut securing the wheel. I still get good vertical adustment.

...had to turn my nuts around too(you know how painful that can be).

A quick test on the ride back out to the shed and all seemed well. It even handles going up the concrete ramp better. A little snow here today continuing into tonight but so far not enough to use this on. Here's hoping.<!-/quote-!>

I believe that is where I first saw it. I wonder how his plastic wheels held up. That thrower is heavy. That's why I like the steel wheels with the bushings. I already had them. They are hard to find.

I recently purchased a cub 129 hydrostat and am looking for a snow thrower for it. I found a QA42 A which I understand fits my tractor. my question is the seller of the snow thrower tells me there is also a u1111 behind the model number, will this fit my cub?

John H.
As long as it says QA42A, no need to worry about the other numbers.
It will fit just fine.

John Hatterman - welcome to the Forum. If you do get the snow thrower try to make sure you get the lift rod, chute control rod and support rod, and the drive belt, all of which go with the QA42A snow thrower.

thanks guys for your quick response. now im facing close to 700 miles of driving, one way, but it will be well worth it im sure.

John H - your profile doesn't show your location. Driving 700 miles one way for a snow thrower is the longest hike I've heard of to get one. I hope you already know for certain about it's condition and price.

Jared, I'd also inspect the drive line hole, where it joins through the pump coupler. Maybe these locations were wallowed out, causing all this turmoil. But, the frozen pump is most likely the source, as said earlier.

Still have not figured out the dismay of WD-40, as stated clearly on every can, that it is a penetrating oil too! For more serious applications, have I had to use Kroil.

I have has good luck, (but only when those relief valve buttons function freely)using a stretchy rubber cord to hold up that dump lever, thus pressing down the relief buttons. I've done this to move my 1450 before, since I did not want to start it.

However, I hope you the best in your repairs! I have found it much more rewarding to purchase whole, complete, running IH Cub Cadets for parts! Might keep that in mind too! I understand your time of repairs, but I have purchased these units running for a fair price. I'm just trying to help.

Hey, IH Cub Cadet.com is the absolute best forum on the net! The time dedicated to the FAQ sections is flat out awesome, immediate, professional help!

Good luck fellow enthusiast!!!
