Jason s.

I use Case/IH paint and have had very good results. I use a HVLP spray gun. I try to use paint, primer and reducer from the same manufacturer whenever possible. I do use hardener in the paint, Valspar Enamel Hardener # 4625. I recently used the Valspar Tractor and Implement paint from a local farm supply. I painted a 60” mower deck, so I was not looking for great results. I would use this paint again. I did use the Valspar paint over rattle can primer, seems to be staying on the deck.
I remove most of the old paint with chemical stripper, this reduces the chance of getting lead based paint where I don’t want it. Once most of the original paint is removed, then I switch to a mechanical means of prepping the metal, sanding, sand blasting, wire wheel, etc.

Jason S - I don't know how much of a purist you want to be in using the correct colors but the Originals did come with an early white color and IH changed this white twice over the course of Cub Cadet production. If you haven't already you could check FAQ No. 5 and the link it includes to get more specifics on the White and Yellow colors. However, in my opinion you really can't go wrong using the current original 935 White and 483 Federal Yellow colors available in Case/IH Ironguard. I'll let the painting experts on here address your questions on technique and mixtures.

And now for the control lever (stick) issue:
Sticks and Stones and Duals/Duels can break my bones,
but Twin Sticks never hurt me.

Sandblast and paint is gonna have to wait til I get a new glass for my cabinet.
Thought I would beef up the area where the big pin goes through.
Got the cylinder rebuilt and a replacement hose for the angle blade. Place in Dubuque did it. Bring it on Ma!!

David S - when you said "Film at eleven.." you really meant it. I can't hardly believe that's the same A-frame. It's looking really great. I suppose you also figured out you can only weld the underside of the top, and the upperside of the bottom, where the big pin goes thru.

David - you mean we don't get "Film at eleven.." of the finished project???

David S.

You are doing the same thing I did to a 42" blade back around 2002. I found long cracks in the metal indicated by the arrows. Not sure what the PO had done to my blade, but it was well abused.

I never planned to used the spring trip on my blade so, I beefed it up in many places like you are. I often use "ramming speed". I did snap a grade 8 bolt that I used for the pivot bolt once, almost went over the steering wheel.

Jason S. Here is something to file in your Notes: SprayMax 2K Primer. It's a rather new patented product. Check out various YouTube clips on it. It's getting rave reviews...and now mine.
