Kenneth,

I got mine from TSC. Carlisle 16x 6.50-8 for 30.00 Each.

Andrew,
You may have to bypass the safety switch. sometimes the tab gets broken off of the brake linkage and it won't start. just my 22cents.

Denny-
I thought about tippin' this tractor up, but then figured the creeper would puke all of it's hytran out of the breather if I did that.

Paul-
A real man.....yea.. RIGHT!

"Bubba"-
Yes!

Tom-
Funny you mention that air-hammer trick. I'd thought about it, but didn't want to drag an air-hose around to the back garage to find out that it wouldn't work. Maybe I'll make up one of those "custom" bits for a future project!

Keith-
Neat project tractor. It looks like a nice, straight tractor. I wonder why it has a seat from a JD 110?

I agree, great pictures from a phone-camera!

Rob D-
The next time that happens to your 1650, give it full-throttle and start feeding it choke. If it seems like it wants to run better, then you've got a fuel-supply issue.

Kenneth-
Unless you're going to be doing a trailer-queen restoration, I would recommend against those tires. While they are correct as original, they are horrible (slippery) on any side-hill on snow or even wet grass. Just something to think about I guess...

Lewis, i see your 107 in profile and that makes me think that i should not junk a Cub Cadet... lol She does look great.I plan to take a lawn shot of all my Cubs this spring and update my PF . I like to see what everybody is up to and what i need to do to mine.I`am happy to have the 149 back as a working tractor and i want to build a front carrier for the 147. I want to make it slide right in the Quick connects so it will fit all the Cubs. My plan for tomorrow is the 125 rewire and install the 129 12K so its mobile. So another long day for me Monday. I`ll post a before and after. Later Don T

lewis how would i go aout doing that i dident even no my 73 had a safty switch haha

Harry, I'm up here in western Massachusetts where it's now 16 degrees and blowing like the tundra. I use 5W-20. Something else that recently made a big difference... I cleaned out the inside of my starter, commutators, brushes, etc... and it spins and charges twice as fast as before. Give it a try if you haven't already.

Hey guys.About the 127 that rolled in for repairs this weekend. My question is- being its a 127 does this mean its a 12 hp-k321? or k301.Thanks-K.w.

i checked out the safty switch and it looked like it was all intact and good could it be the solenoide or the ignition switch?

Keith W., if the 127 is stock... It should have a 12hp K301 engine. A 14hp Kholer in a narrow frame cub would need the frame flare outs like the 147 model(for the larger flywheel). Unless, The 14hp was installed with a 12hp flywheel..., Dennis F Knows much more on that swap!

Andrew

when you step on the clutch brake pedal, there is there a flat arm that comes in contact with the safety switch? if not it has broken off. If so disconnect the harness and put a jumper from one terminal to the other terminal. just my 30 cents

ohhhh i seee well its back out to the shop to try that thanks again

BrianJ-I'll look into that cleanout of starter, first I'll try other R & R I want to do. when battery was charged starter spun pretty good, least sounded like other cubs I've heard.
Ive had Wallyworld batteries in cars before and usually when they say 2-3-4 years thats about it. Plus the Cub might just be a warm weather machine, like my rollback-it HATES cold weather. and me. gimme 70+ degrees and I'm happy

thats my woody SR on trailer used in last summer parade for fireman carnival.reason on trailer is still not done with it-needs all new F/r suspension, among other things. But was 80+ that day & 40 min later HUGE thunderstorm, right after parade. I wanted to put the Cub on there since I use it in park, but nowhere to tie on a surfboard. hmmm-need to make surfboard rack for tractor.

Harry....sweeeet woody bro!!!You need to pop a long board up on top,as for on the cub....why not!

Keith,

Happy birthday.
You are a lucky man one day I will have a look what followed me home story,or maybe like some,a whole lot of em!!Great photos my camera barely takes pics that good!

Rob
Is there any part that you have replaced that would be affected by heat or vibration.Or one you havent swaped out yet that could be faulty, one that wouldnt be obvious?silly suggestions I know but you never know. Did you try to choke it a bit and see if that works like Art said?I noticed in the wanted section you are looking for a cam did you take it apart?

Lewis
nice looking tractor

Oh and harry the heater should help with the starting problem, alot. The tune up and clean up wont hurt either!

Got a 124 I bought. Now trying to get it repainted and running. Got the engine off. Having some problems with the clutch: doesn't want to shift. Sure are a lot of adjustments on these machines. I have my eye on another 124 and I'm thinking it would be good for parts. With 2, I could get one good one. This place is great for information and I enjoy reading about these Cubs. And, yep, bought the manuals.

Lewis Palma - Thank you for responding to my tire question. Wow, your 107 looks awesome!!!

Aaytay – Thank you as well for the information about my tire question. No, I'm not doing a "trailer-queen" restoration. My 149 will be a working tractor indeed. I'm just un-doing what the PO has done and doing what the PO failed to do. Thought I'd put it back together as close to the way it was intended to be as much as I can before it was molested.

On a separate note: I'm sure the subject of "spark plugs" e.g. types, manufactures, etc. has been raised here on the forum? I did a search and there's very little that filters as matching results. Is there a discussion in the archives on this subject that someone could link me to? There isn't anything in the FAQs either that I can find. Just wanted to hear the experiences others have had with different manufacturer's plugs for Kohler motors i.e. NGK, Champion, Autolite, Motorcraft, Bosch and other?????
