KRAIG - And to think that I was going to suggest you borrow ART's torque wrench!

Kevin, I wasn't saying that I would tack weld a bolt, I was saying that Art would do that...

Besides, I don't even own a welder or know how to weld.

Denny, my brother lives closer to me than Art does. Besides, if I were to borrow a tool from Art, I'd have to return it promptly. If I borrow a tool from my brother I can keep it until he needs it back.

Kraig-
Good idea! Why just 'tack weld' it when you can burn it tight ALL THE WAY AROUND!

That reminds me, next time I'm at Kraig's I'll have to "borrow" his junky torque wrench and weld it so it quits making that annoying 'clicking' sound!

Home of the Plow Special

Art now you just gave him notice of your intent, lol . Krags a big boy and I`am sure small fasteners give him some issues. I gave up on the small finger rule lol.

Regarding the misalignment issue on your tiller belt pulleys, the output drive pulley on the gearbox box is installed backwards and needs to be flipped around on the shaft. Getting the pulley off can be a pain and you will need a puller that has a backing plate that will go behind it and only pull on the hub. Owantanna Tool Company OTC makes such a puller and your local Case IH dealer or farm equipment garage would likely have one. The pulley is cast iron and if you use a puller that pulls on the outer part of the pulley, it will break, BTDT.

Does anybody have any pictures of the canopy cub cadet made? I can't figure out where they mount on the tractor. any help would be great.

Thanks Ron-

That makes sense. I had the gearbox apart to clean and paint so the pulley shouldn't be hard to switch around. I just covered the tractor with rain in the forecast but I'll get to it later in the week. If that remedies the problem all I need now are the belts.

Kraig-

Nice pic of the canopy. What are the two "arms" coming off of the rear of the tractor? There's an addition to the draw bar as well...is this part of it too? I really like the seat belt. That must be for hilly country.

Wayne, this should explain the parts on the rear of the Cub.

Thanks Kraig-

That's interesting "to protect against rear overturns". I should have figured that as low as they are. I have never heard of a rear overturn of a cub...yet. It seems the cub would Have to be without an implement for this to be an issue. I can see where it could be a "cruising" problem like the guy in the pic. He needs some sunglasses to go with those sideburns.

I guess the piece on the drawbar is just an extention...?

the picture of the cab ,look at the driver. he is wearing 1973 74 clothes. I see snoot boots and them dam plaid paints lol. I think I still have a pair of them in grey and blue lol.

I know this will be poofed, but I just want to let you know I"M RICH!! Check out this settlement check I got today.

Wow...a lot of discussion on proper torqueing of Kohler head bolts...how many get their torque wrenches calibrated on a regular basis? Hmmm...I can hear gears spinning now...

Thanks Kraig. Did IH also make one out of tubing that mounted in the rear under the fenders? I saw one on a 82 series tractor but didn't know if it was homemade.

I found this while flipping through an old manual and thought it was pretty interesting given today's topic.
