I finally have a 'it followed me home' story. I got a call from my Dad Sunday afternoon, "did you see on Craigslist someone has a Cub Cadet for sale here in our hometown?" I e-mailed the seller and we settled on this evening to see it. Come to find out, the seller lives 1/4 mile down the road from me and his daughter went to school with my daughter! Small world. So, anyway, I picked up a non-running 109. It's got good tires, new seat and battery. It will crank over if you short the terminals at the solenoid, but not with the ignition switch. Also smells strong of old bad gas. I'll have a little work to get this one running, but shouldn't be too much. He had it running and mowing just four years ago. I'm eager to have a backup to my off-topic 1811. Maybe now I can tear that down for a paint and decal job.

Kevin - nice story about the 109 following you home. Looks like it has 10.5 wide rear tires which is unusual for a 10hp, but it does give your grass more cushion. Say as best I can tell it looks like you may have a replacement engine since it appears black. That could mean it doesn't have awhole lotta hours on it. I'm sure you'll get it running pretty quick.

Austin E. I tell you what... If you find a 129 or 149 around my area and get it then I'll pick it up for you and meet you half way. Two hours versus four hours... one condition though... You have to keep that fine looking 128. And I'll do it for the fun of helping a fellow Cub Cadet gentleman and also getting to meet you.

Hydro -

When I put the ag's on to check the deck wheel bracket clearance, I saw THIS:

The 1-1/2", 1-31/32", & 23" measurement issue disappeared into oblivion as I found myself mesmerized in a trance like state that I barley came out of,,,, Until I read your "Inflated" measurement request!!!
After seeing the ag's mounted on the 149, The "EXACT" height measure just don't seem all that important Anymore!!!!

Thanks for the offer but Mike F is wanting to trade me a 149 for my 128, and that would be a good deal becasue I don't have the space for 2 tractors lol. And the 149 would be a great project to work on. since it needs a motor mounted.

David S - geez, I overlooked your award posting. Congratulations. It's well deserved after all the effort and work you put into it.

Kevin L - I just happen to scroll back thru your 109 pics and noticed 2 things that can give you a "non-start" - the position of your brake pedal and your PTO lever. In the pics your brake pedal is not engaged, and your PTO lever shows engaged. Just in case you're not aware I thought I'd mention the brake pedal has a micro-safety switch so the pedal has to be depressed for the starter circuit to work thru the keyswitch. Also, most of the 1x9 series have a PTO lever micro-safety switch as well. The PTO lever must be in the dis-engaged position (pulled back) for the starter circuit to work thru the keyswitch. Maybe your "non-start" is as simple as the position of these 2 things.
 
Mike C. I'm like Jason W. All Cub Cadets are neat. So yours is also. Not all of mine are pristine. I use them.

While you are measuring the height on the tires, you can take some more pics of that tractor and show us!

Harry gave you some great tips.

If that 109 has four year old ethanol gas in it, don't try to crank it!!!
Get that mess outa there.
You will probably need to take the carb apart and clean all the junk out of it.
Drain the tank and look in it to see if there is any sludge in it too.
Get you some non-ethanol 93 octane (high test) gas to run in it at least for about three tanks full. Gas treatment w/carb cleaner in it would be nice also.

Kevin L - I really agree with the advice from Marty too. Gotta get that old gas out and clean up that carb after 4 years a'sittin. One other thing I should'a mentioned too, I see the little side panels are missing in your pics. You can see one of them in Mike C's pic of his 109. They are white and right between the air cleaner cover and the dash support pedestal. You really need those panels to support the gas tank mounts. Without them the tank tends to get pushed down and ends up bending the sides of the pedestal and the hood starts to break the fiberglass dash. You've got a pretty nice looking 109 that I'm hoping will be a good tractor for you.

Jason - see what you went and done now!!!! I ain't the only one interested in how tall those tires are. I'm hoping Carlisle did ya good.

David S - hey come on now. The tractor that gets the Best Restoration 2016 award only gets 1 pic on the Forum, after everything you went thru with it. There's plenty of memory storage available on here. Lets see that baby!!!!
