Hi Mike F and Kraig...that is to funny with your kitties and bread. That is one thing that our kitties dont eat, and both of yours do.! lol. Mike, I really hooted with Meow Meow and his Meow..in double time and him carrying a whole loaf of bread..that is PRICEless. I am still sitting here giggling. Even to get a pic of that would be a good one. I find it so funny with Selah and his cardboard fetish..that is to funny Kraig. I guess he needs fiber, ey? So he's never constipated, right? hehehe... and Meow Meow drooling over Ketchup? hehehe, maybe that is why Fancy likes Chili oh and Spaghetti (spelled wrong?)..the ketchup/tomato base? but he won't eat tomatos..go figure. I have a pic of Stinker when I would have to share my ice cream bars with her and she would lick the ice cream but leave the chocloate coating perfectly untouched, but her little tongue would forge downward for the ice cream. Also Stinker loved granola bars, then I read that kitties shouldnt have raisins, so I had to stop giving her granola bars, as she really loved the raisins..gosh darn it all, but I don't suppose she really missed it all that much, as out of sight out of mind. Use to be with Baby Girl and Stinker years ago, if I had any chance with yogurt and me getting any, I actually had to hide myself away in another room if I wanted any yogurt for myself, as between those two girls, they would eat a whole container of yogurt between themselves, or I would have to take a couple of spponfuls for myself first, which I usually did, as they wanted to share Mine with me, you know that togetherness thing..((smiles))..

Thanks for sharing guys.!!

I've been up since midnight. marlin couldnt sleep, his feeties were hurting so I got up to talk to him..looks like he is dozing in the chair, so I got on the comp to check in before I make breakfast..

have a great day

btw..Kraig~ loved the pic..hehehe

What's funny for me is I am like Fancy! I love ketchup and chili or spaghetti etc... but I won't touch a tomato! I'd rather suck on a copper penny!

Why is it the best pictures happen when you don't have the camera in your hand? Unless you're like Kraig!

We're hopin' Marlin is feelin better this afternoon. With my diabetes, I know the feet / leg pain drill all to well.

You know Mike, ever since you told us about Meow Meow and the loaf of bread, and I told marlin about it and I keep having visual flash backs and find myself sitting and giggling about it. The kitties here wonder what they've done that I'm laughing at them about and I have to explain that I'm NOT laughing at them. How seriously wrong is that? They think they've done something stupid
243259.gif
and I'm laughing at them? they are far to humannoid like...anyways, its given me a gazillion laughs.

Mike

I wonder what your face might look like sucking on copper..

Oh gosh Mike on your pain from diabetis.! Marlin actually came home from work early Wednesday morning as he couldnt stand the pain in his feet. I called the doc right away to let him know before the office opened and then called again to talk to him personally around 11am and they put me on the phone with him. How many patients get to talk to their doc when they say they need to? I doubt many, but anytime I call in and say I need to talk to the doc NOW, the doc talks to me. I haven't done that only in emergencys, but I have done it. I expalined what was going on, and he said for him to stop the drug he had started him on, the gababenten and to have him restart on the Cymbalta, which he took the night he ended up in ER and also to not return to work till this Monday, the 20th. I had actually gotten him into see an accurpuncturist today, but when I told doc he said NO NO NO. he said that Marlin neuropathy wouldn't handle that form of stimulation ..I hadn't really thought about it, but then that sounded plausible, as any energy work like that is very intense. So I had to call and cancel that appt. Marlin wanted to try accupunture as he read it helped neuropathy, so good thing I said something to doc..its NOT good for everyone.! He is switching meds again, the gababenten didnt agree with him then he started to have other degress of problems with his feet, different kinds of pain.! So hopefully by Monday he can go to work and not be in such unrelenting pain and switching drugs will be highly BENEFICIAL!!...

take care everyone..

Cathleen, glad the image of Meow Meow hauling the loaf of bread brings a smile to you. Chris (wife) and I laugh whenever we talk or remember it..

I cannot comment about the penny, other than to say that eating a tomato really gives me that "sour face" .. you know the one that babies make when they eat something they don't like or find tart..
biggrin.gif

I am so sorry to hear of Marlins' trials and tribulations and I'm hopeful (You know we all are) that they can find a medication to ease his pain. I am not as bad as he but, it's only a matter of time, my diabetes has been kept in check as I'm on insulin 4 times a day and more meds than I care to mention.. One of lifes crosses to bear right?

Nap time in the garden baskets.

243303.jpg

These guys drive me crazy at times. The house is their race track and my bed lies in turn three.

Mike-

Sorry to hear of anyone having to gear their life around a lot of meds. I guess we have to thank our lucky stars we have them though.

Wayne, ah, how cute are sweet little Millie and Barney in the garden baskets? my kids however think they have to have " padding"...lol. they are sure growing. So you don't like them racing around the house? When Annie does, you had better be out of her way, or she will run you down..she sounds like a heard of elephants when she gets going and whenshe comes running down the stairs, she usually misses the last upper two or three, the landing and the last 3 below and hits the floor about 3 feet out. The sound that her little feeties make is loud and I would think it would really hurt her feet, but I guess not because she does it over and over. Although she has settled down a little with age, just this morning she did a run down..haha. She likes attention and I was sitting up on the couch instead of laying and then I noticed she was sitting across from me on the love seat..STARING at me..with this glare, like why aren't you looking at me.!!! I started laughing so hard. I said yes Annie I see you and I got this glare back, like I've been sitting here for a whole minute and NO you didnt SEE ME.! She is too funny and like our dear Stinker, Annie is the master of multiple faces. If she is sitting besides me and she doesn't think I am giving her enough attention she will move to right in front of me on the coffee table, the dining room table, what ever is sitting in front of me to make sure I see her. She is so comical.

Hannah is doing so much better these days and her little personality is shining and she is really changing in personality it seems. She always seemed so quiet when Stinker was around, but now she is more active. She will actually snuggle with me on the couch for long bouts. She use to only sit beside me when I was laying on the couch for maybe 4-5 minutes, but now she will lay down beside me and lay her little head on my arm and snuggle close. I will put my hand behind her to support her so she won't fall off the couch and she will likes that closeness now and the other morning she laid with me like that for a good hour. That felt really wonderful.!! The other night in bed she actually came up and snuggled as well. She got really finiky with eating though and for a few days didnt eat. I had gotten then different dry food and she wasn't having it. The other morning I went and pointed at the food and said please Hannah will you please eat this and she looked at the food and started eating it, but the minute I got back in bed, she stopped and came and laid down. The other kids have been finiky with wet food too, ever since Stinker passed, so am thinking everyone has been off due to grieving. But I switched up everyones wet food when I went to the store the other day and got 9-lives varity instead of friskies and everyone is actually eating what I got. Miracles do happen, huh? lol. I tried getting them ' healthy' wet food, but no one will eat the stuff, so I gave up on that theory. urrrrrr....Hannah though loves the healthy, no grain dry food, well actually Fancy and Annie will eat it too, well they all will, but Stinker never would, so maybe I will order it out again from Amazon, or buy it at Petsmart when I get down there.

Mike, wish you could have gotten a pic of Meow Meow with the bread. Could you give him a loaf so he could do it again? lol...just kidding.
I so empathize with you with your diabetis and know the issues with feet. I was a home health aide when I got hurt on the job and ended up disabled, and I worked with diabetics, so I know what you deal with and the consuming health issues you face and could face..so I send hugs and concern your way. I dont have that, but multiple issues. I have weened myself off many drugs, but due to high levels of pain I do have to take strong drugs just to function..not by choice but for some quality of life. I dislike drugs. Marlin hates drugs. But they are a needed evil at times. I did massage his feeties last night and that seemed to help but they are still to tender. on the inside of his foot that had the tarsal tunnel surgery it looks all bruised. I dont like the looks of it. I dont know why it would be bruised. That does come and go. The Dr. said that was because of the
neuropathy....hummmmm? I'll do the massage every day and hopefully THAT will help. He said don't do it as I was having bad back spasms but I'll do what I have to do for him...my back..well its always in a state of pain it seems anymore, and I was good enough to do that for him.

its going to be another gorgeous day here. Its more fall like then late, hot August summer weather..the weather is so weird anymore. I actually wore long pants and a heavy sweather to the store yesterday morning..it was 64 out.!!

have a good one everyone..

Great Pic Wayne! And it's fun to hear stories of the pets running around the house like they own it!

But then we all know.. they think they DO!
happy.gif

Hope that Marlin is feeling better today Cathleen. And thanks to you both for the concern.

My cats name is Tony. He is a spoiled rotten Himaleyan. My roommates daughter gave him to us 10 years ago and this is his house. He lets us live here as long as we take care of all his needs. Just kidding but he is very demanding. He stays in except to go out and get some fresh air on the screened in porch.

Melody? send me some pics and I can get them up for ya? I would love to see Tony!!! Yes they do own the house, they dont just think they do, right Mike? hahaha...

Marlin is home and he didnt pass his eye exam at the DOT...holy louise!!! so he has to go back at 2pm and I will go with so he can pick out nice frames. I need new glasses too..I cant even see anything with mine on..really bad..haven't had new glasses in 6 years..should get every 2 or three!! so Marlin is majorly upset.! He was planning on working on cubbies with Ryan MC today butttttt...guess that will manifest tomorrow. Its always something.

thanks Mike. I think Marlin is feeling abit better.. but he's now bummed out. ME too.

later.. Angel

X2 on the pic Melody, I'd like to see a himaleyan(sic?) and I will debate ownership of the house with anyone!
talker.gif
LOL.. We all know that we are merely servants to'em right?!?!

Cathleen, assure Marlin that wearing glasses is all part of the process of growing up! We just ain't teenagers any more! I'm not saying we're adults yet. Just not teenagers is all I'll admit to! HAH!

I don't believe I've shared a pic of the cat here so lets see if I can get this one to go up. Not a great pic of him but, it's him.. The prince!

243306.jpg

lol Mike..I'll tell Marlin. I'm sure that will cheer him up...he'll be relieved he doesnt have to grow up..hehehe.. He talks about his youth, and even what he pulls now,oh my goodness..he is a handful and Ryan MC can vow to some things Marlin has pulled on him..hahaha..let me tell ya. He just woke up from a nap and he was having quite the snore in the chair..hehehe.

Meow Meow is a handsom guy and looks like he carrys a few pounds on him like our fancy boy does. ((smiles))...

waiting on photo's of Tony boy..??? Himy's are beautiful kittys.

we are so lucky to serve these great puma's though..little is size, their hearts and spirits are huge.!!

talk later..I have to great ready to go do the eye thing. I couldnt get in today. Since I am on medicaid, they couldnt get ' authorization today since it's the week-end, but atleast they can photo copy my ID and get it set up on Monday hopefully so the first part of the week I can run in and take care of things..(( smiles))

Happy Monday morning everyone. Fancy has seemingly been under the weather, not sick, but bummed out. I think it is because of Stinker passing, and then when I have days that my back is spasming I don't take him out as I always have to carry him back up and he weighs 16# and that is bad on my back. Saturday on our way home from the eye appt,I told Marlin that we needed to take Fancy for a ride around town to look for bunnies or other four legged to cheer him up. I was the pilot on our trip. I haven't driven the 4x4 'cept to drive it up the street from the mechanics shop when we last had work done. our trip home was nerve racking for me, because I'm not familar with driving the truck but I acted like I was fine..and Marlin didnt seem to nervous..maybe he was acting too? haha. I am so blind with my glasses, but I know the highway, so once I got behind the wheel and drove a few blocks, I was ok. At least I wasn't driving where I didnt know the streets or hiway.!

we had promised Fancy we would take him out when we got home so he was really excited when we asked him if he wanted to go for a ride. Marlin held him up on his arms and he was Purring and head butting he daddy!! I drove us all our tiny little town . To show you how bad my glasses are, I'd think I'd see a puppy or kitty and say oh Fancy look at the puppy and although Marlin couldn't see much because his eyes were fuzzy from being dialated, he'd say, ahhh, thats a bush. We had some good laughs abotu what I was/wasn't seeing~all the bushes or what ever I was seeing that were inanimate objects added to the joy ride. hehehe... I was cracking myself up at my blindness. ( The world around me will seem all brand new when I get my new glasses).

So then Sunday morn daddy took Fancy for another ride around town to look for bunnies and they did see a few and a squirrel and a kitty. He will say ' bunnie' when they are together, but he didnt when I was calling ' buuunnnieee' when I was running them around town. We went through the implement dealers lot down the road from us and I was talking about the machinery and Fancy would look at what I was talking about..he DOES know his farm machinery and then answer me with very clear YEPS. Wish I had a video of our little road excursion...it was fun and Fancy's excitement was fun to watch. to cute. He and I can't go in my mini van as the window controls are on the arm rest and he could step on them and roll the window up and down, now if marlin isn't driving the 4x4 to work Fancy and I can do rides around town without daddy...cooool.

I have to put Fancy on a SERIOUS diet. He came into the bedroom three times this morn to eat dry food. I finally went into the dining room where I keep their dry food and took most of it back out, and then put it up on the kitchen counter and I will put it down this afternoon when they normally eat their wet food. I decided I am going to put the dry stuff down only twice a day instead of letting him graze all day long. that IS how kitties are suppose to be fed anyways. Well, most regulate how they eat, but not Fancy.! Annie is a solid little girl too, although not ove weight and even Tootsie is starting to put some poundage on, so will have to watch her dry food intake too. I put Hannahs dry food up on my bed. I just put a towel down to catch any crumbs, and if Fancy doesnt figure that out, Hannah can eat as she pleases. She is the only one who has a girly figure...
So yesterday Ryan McShane, a member here, came out to spend the day with us. He lives in eastern Iowa but goes to college at Iowa State in Ames which is about a 15 minute drive from us. After Marlin talked to Ryan and he was headed our way, Fancy was soundly sleeping on the 3 season porch, but daddy said loudly " Fancy..Ryan is coming out" and within a few secs, there is Fancy sitting at the kitchen door, waiting for Ryan. He LOVES Ryan, and I kind of think Fancy is Ryans buddy too. Annie went to the door too like she was all excited. Stinker was always the ' greeter' and well, I felt really sad that she wasn't here to greet Ryan back for the school year..she adored him too, but you know what? Annie filled that position, and low and behold little Annie jumped up in Ryans lap the way Stinker would.. Kind of pulled at my heart strings

Ya all know Marlin's been under the weather and he said to tell ya all he feels bad that he hasn't been on the forum. With being dizzy he hasn't felt like posting. Yesterday he thought he had an ear infection on top of everything else, but I gave him some night quill and that cleared up the dizziness, thank goodness, so he has a head cold too. sigh. He took day quill this morning and it kicked in before he got to work, so hopefully he'll have a good day. I did massage on his feet Friday night and that took most of the pain and tingling out of his feeties. His feeties were tingling abit last night, so I did a little massage and it didnt take much before I had them simmered down again, so I'll have to massage them when they start bothering him, but I know the new meds are kicking in and helping. I hope he's doing good at work today. I know he was ready to go back to work. He does NOT like missing work.!! It was a long 3 days off for him.

Ryan got our yard(s) mowed and also mowed our neighbor's. We were so so grateful for that. We always do our neighbor Steves as he isn't in good health, He has severe diabetes and is almost blind, and he just had skin grafts for skin cancer on his hand!! So then I fed him hot beef sandwhichs with home grown tomatos and corn and spice cake for dessert and he took home a plate of cake to nibble on.

have a good day everyone

Cath, funny stories there - taking the "kids" for rides 'round town..

and mistakin' a bush for a pet! Uh Oh....

You had noticed that M-M was a bit "pudgy".. and he is a lot better as we had to limit his feedings as he was always hungry and could eat us out of the house. So now he gets 1/8 cup dry only twice a day as per the vet. He's been losing weight slowly but it doesn't appear to bother him. Let Marlin know we're hopin' he's feeling better today.

Good Morning, Everyone... Just dropping by to let everyone know that I'm hanging in there. I promised Angel and the eye doctor to not have much computer time until I get the glasses. At least now I know why I've been having some mild dizzy spells and hard to read the comics and other things. I'm starting to actually look forward to being able to see things clearer. The kitties won't recognize me for sure. I haven't read any posts and soon will be scooting off to work so I don't know if Angel told you about my trying on the frames. My eyes were dialated and at one point she had me try on "dork glasses"... I could barely see things to begin with and she began laughing her little butt off.

Also... to keep things on topic. Angel has put not only me on a diet, even the kitties are on a diet. (We do need to lose some weight.)

Everyone have a wonderful day.

Hi everyone.

Mike, wow, only 1/8 C of food? I read the bag of food requirements and it said for a cat up TO #14 to feed them 1/2 C without wet food or 1/3 C with a 6 oz can of wet.( per day I assume) That seeems huge compared to your vets reco's.!! What kind of food does your vet have MM on?

I put 2/3 C of dry food down for Fancy and Annie, although I'm sure Fancy is going to eat more then his 1/3 but this morning he actually hasn't been grazing constantly. Maybe he looked at what he has and thought maybe I better make this last till afternoon? lol. Maybe I will kick it back to 1/4 twice a day. Its impossible to feed Annie and Fancy seperately. Fancy hasn't figured out yet that Hannah has her food on my bed during the day. ((smiles)). If he does, then her food will have to be put up as well. The 4 of them share one small can of cat food twice a day, but Tootsie gets about half of that and Fanc and Annie share a 1/4 and Hannah gets the other 1/4. At midnight I was up and Annie was looking at her empty bowl. I felt sorry for her, but didnt get her any food. This morning I was running late on getting breakfast started so I measured out the dry food and got everyone set up and then here comes Annie around the corner, complaining with a distressed look on her face, as though to say, HEY HEY..where's my canned food? poor little girl was starving I tell ya. I said hold on a minute. I got their plates ready and set those down and poor any didnt get to dig in right away as daddy Fancy scarfed up his half. He actually did leave her half. haha.

I bet when I was pointing out pets to Fancy on our drive around town, he thoughtI was pulling major pranks on him. He did give me rather strange looks when I would say, Hey bud, look, there's a puppy or kitty and it would be a bush. guess maybe he thought I was
243530.gif
? hehe.! Maybe he doesnt wanna go with me, if I can't even tell the difference between a bush and a dog, ey?

He loves to ride around town on the cubby too. He feels soooo important and loves it when people wave to him and call his name. Maybe have come out to the street to meet and greet him, and he loves when the kids hollar his name. He's kind of a little celeb in town. You would think he would get bored or tired, but they can be gone for a half hour and thats not to long a tractor ride for him, but I do believe Marlins one arm gets abit tired supporting him with all the weight he's carrying. He hasnt' been much though as it was so hot, but isn't not now, so hopefully when daddy gets his new glasses and is feeling better they can tool around town on the cubby.

(Off Topic)except for diets.. Marlin said I put him on a diet? no no..he decided to put himself on a diet. The only way I would get away with that would be to dish up his food and tell him that is all he's getting. He was getting up during the night and eating and I told him NO MORE of that. I said that is putting on poundage. So was that comment putting him on a diet?? I said I know exactly what you're eating at night by looking in the fridge. He had this look of bewilderment
243531.gif
on his face. ((smiles). Actually since he got this head cold, his appetite is lousy, so that helps the diet cause. I dont need to diet. I have lost 50# this year. I weigh a hefty 105# ( if that). When I put on my jeans the other day, they are normally snug, but they were abit loose, so I know I dropped a few more pounds and I dont even try. I was to heavy due to my back disablity and damage/osteoporosis, so good for me to be thinner. I dont have the pain in lower back I had, just awful spasms in upper back due to curvature of the spine, which is getting worse. enough of my woes.

Hannah has been on a HI kick. When I come into the bedroom to go to bed, she will say HI several times. It is crystal clear too. Last night she said HI six times. I had to keep saying hi back. lol. She opens her mouth really big too, its really cute. This morning I asked her if she wanted some treats and a very clear YEP came out!

angel.gif
and the kitties

Cath, I believe the vet says 1/8 cup 'cause she knows I'll still double it and feed a 1/4 cup! And I do!!! LOL.... The wife complains but M-M is losing weight, just not as fast as "they" want.

I am amazed that any cat would find enjoyment on a tractor. But they do have unique personalities and anything is possible! It must be quite a sight watching them 2.!.!.!
