A couple days ago I mentioned I have started messing with a 125. Here's some pics of the ever so nice 125.
Nice muffler, it is loose, just slid over the exhaust pipe.

Air cleaner held on with a sheet rock screw.
168126.jpg

No fiber PTO Button here!
168127.jpg

Custom seat, of course both fenders are bent along with the seat frame.
168128.jpg

The coil was zip tied to the lift angle tab, the lead coming to the coil went through a fusible link which was wrapped in rubber from an inner tube and then wire tied to the right side of the bent battery box... I took this all off before getting the camera.

No choke cable but I got extra keys(broken) hanging from the hydro lever, plus a cig. lighter!

I kow this pic is blurry but the tape job on the is very nice... I'll have to get a new pic!

Bulldog Hood ornament! Anyone want it?
168132.jpg

Custom wiring! This was hooked to one of the studs on the top of the motor...

Don't blame you I would get it off of there too. The PO was definatly more into functionabilty than asthetics.

VINCE - There should be laws against doing those things the prior owner did to a Cub Cadet.

My old 129 had a LOT of those same types of quick fixes done to it when I got it, most of which resulted in damage to other parts as well. I fixed a Lot of the repairs but without making the tractor a Complete MONEY PIT most of My fixes involved hardware store materials also. My local Case/IH/Cub Cadet dealer didn't stock much for the older machines and everything had to be special ordered. I didn't mind the wait for parts but the freight charges were Terrible!

This was the nicest 125 on the load I got a year ago, it included 3 125s and a 123. I hope to get this one running and possibly the 123. I have a 12hp sitting on my bench waiting to install into this 125.
Here's a couple pics of the load.

Art,
I have a K241 in a 125, so I don't qualify in the "...those 125 owners!" do I?

Terry, that would make it a 105, I guess...

I have a couple of Cub Cadet 125s but I don't butcher mine.

Vincent Thomley,
I have seen that style headlight used where a grote light would be to light up night work at the rear. It might even help parking depending on how and where you do it.

My 105 has the grote light but there are two. The PO bent some 3/4 angle to mount them in the factory holes. Sorry no pick right now.........

josh was it you that built that hydro orginal in your profile?

Josh, sad to say that is the nicest 125 I have... A year ago I went to pick up a couple free Cubs, it turned into 4. All in very poor shape. Hopefully, someday I can get this one looking like this 104.

Oops...YIKES!!!! That was the wrong pic... This is better!

Kendell and aaytay,
Thanks for the tips.
- pulled off the points cover and I can see no issue there, opens and closes the same way every time.
- No ignition switch, I put in the push-button-and-toggle years ago
- It's not charge a little, it's pegged all the way over. And it would appear I drained the battery in short order, I'll have to jump it or charge up the battery before I can start it again! It's a two-month-old battery, too.

So I figure it's got to be the voltage regulator or the generator. When it was running at idle, there was 15 volts across the battery terminals, and when I shut it off it dropped to 13 volts. I don't know if that proves the V/R is OK, though. Are there any good tests to figure out if it's V/R or generator?

Thanks all,
- Mike

Mike, the starter GENERATOR generates current/Voltage. The Voltage regulator regulates the the voltage/keeps it from going too high. I would start with your V/R. Over voltage is going to burn up that 2 month old battery.

I haven't read your other posts but it sounds to me that your V/R is not doing its job.

If you have one on another Cub do a swap and see what your voltage is.

It's been a good week so far. My 3rd grandchild (2nd granddaughter) arrived Thursday morning, and I bought a front blade and subframe for my 1250/1450/782 Thursday evening. Now if I can just hit the PowerBall jackpot!

(By the way, new granddaughter was 9lb 15oz, 22" at birth, and doing great. Mom (my daughter) did a great job and is also doing super. Already on their way home from the hospital.)
