Paul, regarding the hydro lift lever.
The throw in it is very short, only about 3/4" or so in either direction.
Don't pull it too far or you may shear the pin where the lever connects to the spool coupling,

or, if it is the later style the lever will just turn inside the clamp.

Man, I need to take pictures of the ones I got sitting in my friends barn if Dave's 70 is for parts! I don't want to give up on the 105, 107 and 129 although they are rough with a capital RUFF! My 1000 and 125 rollers are better looking as they have been garage kept for the last 30 years, just sitting broken. But we'll see what happens. Good luck Dave and nice 70!

Dennis. They are 4" spindles. The bigger table has the outriggers on it, the smaller table doesn't. They are both 30hp motor. I had one rewound a few years back(not cheap!).

The large table just had some gearbox work done and I had to assist in teardown/assembly. Then found the drive pulley was egged out and loose so had to tear it apart and make a custom bushing to fit the resized shaft. She's all good and quiet now.

The Lehman lathe came from Ravenna(ohio) Arsenal, it made cannon barrels. It had two carriages(we only use one). We deal in long parts in my line of work.

On an on-topic note, I got a replacement carb from Norman at 'Isavetractors' that I need to get installed on my 109 before I can mow again. Rebuilt the existing Walbro once before and it is acting up again. Not wasting anymore time on it. I've seen good reviews on this carb, so I'm hoping for good results.

Just in case David S. needs any more encouragement, 9 years ago (already...!...) I restored a parts tractor. I'd have loved to have started with something as straight as that 70 he has.

I gave my 100 away about 25 yrs ago. It was very, very worn out and didn't have space/money back then to throw at it. Guess that is why I'm working on my 149/127 now.

I recently purchased a Infrared Laser Gun Thermometer from <font color="ff0000">&#149;</font><font color="ff0000">&#149;</font><font color="ff0000">&#149;</font><font color="ff0000">&#149;</font> - around $47.00. Tried it out on my 1250 Cub today after mowing for 1.5 hours. All temperatures are in deg F.

Ambient air temp - 81

Oil pan - 195

Hydro case - 170

Muffler, inlet side - 410

I was surprised at the hydro temp - I thought it would be much lower. And the oil pan I thought would be higher. Oils probably running around 220 which would be about right.

Interesting information. Is this at full throttle? I'm guessing you weren't bogging it down in high grass or something extreme.

Yes, this is running at 3600 rpm governed engine speed.

David - IIRC somebody once wrote that there was about two horsepower of loss in the hydrostatic powertrain. That's roughly 1500 watts thats converted to heat. Considering that other than a slight amount of finning and the short external pipe on a non-ported pump, it doesn't surprise me the heat you saw.
My Silverado shows transmission temp among other things - it's amazing how fast that sucker gets up to 190 degrees, and that's with a cooler.

Is a draft plate really needed on a sleeve hitch?

Jim I think it makes it easier to adjust the implement. Also the implement stays where I put it better especially when using a moleboard plow.

I guess that 32K preseason spring order caught someones eye this year.

Wow Digger, cool. I talked someone into buying an 80's 782 the other day. Loved it more than their 2 year old cub. Maybe they see the interest we see in them some finally
