Kevin, the heat and beat technique hasn't worked yet. And I've had it pretty hot. Figured I'd try something new. Anyway, tomorrow I'm going to level the 149 deck out. Think I have some welding to do on the subframe. To much wear over the years. Nick
 
I have been working on my 169 with a 44" deck for some time to get the right pulleys and belt. I finally have them on the deck and tractor and noticed that the 3/8" pto belt is about 1/4" deep in the pto groove and deck pulley groove. My adjuster is screwed up all the way. Has anybody tried a 1/2" belt as the drive belt. It looks like it would ride higher and do a better job. Thanks.
 
I've seen comments that the acetone/ATF mixture will separate and needs remixing (shake it up if it's in a closed container). I've wondered whether this actually was first tried back when ATF contained whale oil...According to the original article in the April/May '07 issue of Machinist's Workshop, any ATF will do. As a safety note again, be careful with this mixture, it's very flammable and Acetone is nasty stuff!!
 
Acetone with diesel fuel works good also. Acetone will soak through the rust and diesel is an oil so it carries good also.Heat sometimes after a soaking and the hit it with a fire extinguisher to cool it down and then beat it lol. I have tried all kinds of ideas on rusted parts over here in the rust belt.
 
what size bearings does it take for the front wheels on a cco?
 
Aaytay. Thanks for the info. I didn't even know that. I should have been able to figure that out though. My mind been playing tricks on me lately.

Timothy D: It doesn't use ball or roller wheel bearings like all other Cub Cadets. The Original front wheels use bushings. The parts manual calls the IH-376188-R1 a bearing, but it really is a bushing. Notice that the wheel requires an angled grease fitting which matches up with the flat part (not shown) of the bushing. You need to use OEM bushings.

Originals use a bushing, with a 3/4" ID, press fit to the wheel.. PN is IH-376188-R1, available from most of those friendly sponsors up at the top of the page..

thanks for the info now a couple more questions do they have to be pressed out and back in? whats the best way to replace them?
