Marlin: I went to the local animal shelter last Wednesday to see if anyone from Portage Lake had turned a cat/kitten in and no one had so I gave them the dozen or so cans of cat food that we'd optomistically bought. I'd have adopted a cat there but there's a world of difference in accepting the responsibility of bringing an animal home and having one just show up at your door. Glad you're feeling better - have a great weekend!

Sad to say no signs of Zoe and we live in the country with alot of predatory animals around. we will look into a freind for Zoe after our county fair next week, that by the way is featuring International Harvester at the tractor show

Frank...so sorry to hear that Miss Kitty still hasn't found her way home yet. I'm still holdin' out that..the eternal optimist..((smiles))..I understnad the not adopting. It pulls at your heart strings when they just show up on the door step, thus our four babies..hahah.! You figure they found their way home when they find you..its meant to be. Well, maybe down the road you'll think you need a furkid to love up? !!that was good of you to donate the food you had on hand. I have food here I had bought for Stinker and she not the other kitties would eat it, so I'll be taking it to the humane society for their pets ( It was healthy..expensive stuff..haha..nope, the kitties didn't like it, even at that~ figures)

Jeff. gosh darn it all..so sorry to hear that Zoe still hasn't turned up. Miss Brooklyn will be needing a buddy soon..I haven't given up, but with living in the wild of the country, she is more in danger...I'll keep my thoughts with little Zoe though.

take care guys

So, do your kitties eat strange foods? such as people food? ours like to dabble in whats on the dinner plate. Infact, in you don't watch out and Tootsie gets on the table, she would just as soon take off

with a whole chicken if she could. She loves chicken. We will serve some up for her, cutting it up in bite size pieces for her, and also for Fancy and Hannah, but Tootsie really prefers to take her's in bigger pieces from her daddy's plate if she would get the chance OR from the serving pan/plate. She prefers a whole leg if she can get it, but I dont want her to have that, due to the soft bones. They also like a good roast, and again , Tootsie will help herself to the bigger portion in the pan if she can. She has big eyes for being such a little girl...lol. Fancy LOVES Chili!! Of course they like fish to, but they HATE ocean white fish cat food. They won't even get near it if I put in on their plates. Yes, they eat off of plates too...lol..small plates, so every day I have 6 plates of theirs to wash up.Tootsie loves chips, tortilla chips, potato chips, Stinker (RIP) loved, loved chips too. Vanilla ice cream is on everyones list, and Hannah loves yogurt. Also Hannah has a sweet tooth like her sissy Stinker did, and she eats powdered donuts, chocolate donuts too. Every morning when daddy has his eggs with ham in them, Fancy sits ever so patiently on his chair besides his daddy, and he HAS to have some of daddy's ham from his breakfast..that is a morning ritual, and what ever is for supper, Fancy HAS to have some of it on his plate as well. He likes chinese food too, well most people food he will eat. He doesn't like tomato's though. He'll pick those out of chili..haha.

Now, here's a kicker. Yesterday I was setting the table. I put kosher dill pickles on the table and I decided to eat a few before Marlin got home and little Annie got up on the table and was sitting in front of me. (yes, bad habit..we allow our kids on the table-but not when company comes to eat with us...trust me, and they get down when we are eating) anyways,I has just a little chuck left, and I stuck it front of Annies nose and said," I DARE you to eat this pickle", and she looked at me, like OK, I'll take the dare, and she stuck her little nose on the pickle and I expected and really funny look, but NO, and then she took a little itty bitty lick, and nothing and then she took several BIG licks, and looked at me, like HEY, this is good.!! it was to cute.!! I could not believe that she would sniff let alone lick the kosher pickle. these furkids are something.!! This morning I was eating a powered donut and I said her Annie, try this and she sniffed it and looked at me with this look like You expect me to eat THAT? Are you crazy? hehehe... boy, she'll lick a sour pickle but won't eat a yummy donut? ... she's strange, like her daddy Fancy!!

have a great day everyone

We can't leave any bread products out or Tateleh (aka Tots) will claw/chew through the plastic bag to get to the bread. She mostly likes the crust and will eat it off the top of a loaf of bread or hamburger/hotdog bun or roll. Both Tots and Selah like vanilla ice cream. We can't leave chocolate out either or Tots will go for it and chocolate isn't good for cats. Selah is a cardboardavore. If we leave a cardboard box set out the flaps are history.

Funny about cats and what foods they like. We adopted a stray also.. well, it's more like he adopted us and moved in! In any event, he LOVES spaghetti sauce and ketchup! He'll sit between the wife and I and drool over himself until we let him clean the plate! And of course I give him my left over milk after the mornings cereal.

We named him Meow-Meow as he doesn't just give the usual meow... it's always 2 back to back! Just to drive us twice as crazy??? idk...

We learned to keep any bread off the counters also, he once came into the living room with a whole loaf clamped in his jaws and the bag dangling/draggin between his legs. We howled with laughter at first 'cause he could barely walk like that - holding his head as high as he could and walking bow-legged to clear the bag! We changed out tune quickly tho' as we didn't want to encourage that behaviour!! LOL.. Darn Cat!
