KEN - No problem running the Bobcat. I've got one of those HARDHATS that dispenses BEER. Holds two cans so fewer stops to refill!

PAUL Van B. - Lift rod on a 127/147, That long inner rod is considered a "Non-User Servicable part" so you have to get creative. So far you've had better luck getting it apart than I had with my 72 about 6-8 yrs ago. My inner rod twisted off while trying to unscrew item #1. I think that rod is 5/16" dia. If you can't get it freed up with Ken's suggestion of soaking in PB Blaster and trying to free it up you can replace it. Buy a three foot length of 5/16" rod at a local hardware store, cut 5/16-NC threads on the end, maybe 3/4 inch of threads is enough. Then slide the new rod down the lift handle to determine length leaving about an inch to bend so it engages the quadrant #8. Then using an acetylene or MAPP gas torch heat the rod to red hot and carefully bend to about 75-80 degrees. The reassemble. The rod can not be removed & reinstalled from the bottom, bending to clear the rockshaft rod bends the inner rod so much it binds inside the lift lever.
It's also a good idea to replace items 1,2,3,& maybe #4 if it's worn or sticky, rusty.

Eric, they are just "stop" collars that have a set screw to hold them in place. Farm store or bearing supply should have lots of them Plenty hard even after welding them in place. I set them in place, welded them on and then drilled the axel pin and the collars at the same time for the pin. I have seen the bolt used so that a nut can draw the whole thing snug to keep the wobble out from the mount on the frame from spreading. Good long term fix.

Dennis, hou do you deal with the beer sloshing around? one of those bobcats can be rough riding. Or are you lucky enough to have the tracks?

Morning guys

I FINALLY got one of those good cub deals and a "look what followed me home".
I went to a local spring flea market/swap and found a mostly complete 125 with an engine but no generator, gas tank or carb bowl for $65. The throttle shaft is like new but it kinda corroded so im cleaning it now. I took the head off and found a nice crack across the top of the block almost all the way th the valve and there is dry oil on the front of the engine so its shot but I do have that 12hp form the 124 so im transferring parts. Pics tonight. Is that seal in the bearing plate suppose to be REALLY stiff? I could a little but its almost still as hard plastic....which it may be...

From the "Look what followed me home" dept, After 30 bux and an hour of chewing the fat, I scored these:

Does anyone have any info on these? Are they OEM or someones aftermarket fab? What would they have been used on?

Well I`am a happy guy this am. Have been haveing issues with the phone and internet provider. Slow internet and the saturday no dial tone on the phone. Repair people were just here and found the problem. Seems mice had lunch on the wire just out side my home. This confuser is working now like a new one lol.

JERRY - I haven't run a Bobcat in probably 25 yrs. Only one's I've run were 542's? V-4 Wisconsin engine and the variable speed drive like snowmobiles used. The ready-mix company I drove for had one for cleaning up piles of sand & gravel. If We had to wait around between loads we were always told to grab a broom & shovel and clean the yard, or clean up our trucks. Seems like all the running I did with Bobcats was on dry concrete, REAL easy to get them "bucking" on surfaces like that.

I haven't run a big newer Bobcat. Neighbor that runs the mulch & landscape company has a 853, little diesel engine but still rubber tired. QUITE a machine. He did some work for me last summer. Really impressive the way they can dig and move dirt.

I really don't have a hardhat that dispenses beer, but it did remind Me of a great scene in my favorite TV show I watched the other night.

Keep this On Topic, mowed yesterday afternoon with the 982 & 50" deck. The spindle I rebuilt eliminated the streaking. I put my home-made dethatcher on the 3-point. Took about 3 hours total, allowing for beverage breaks.

any ideas on how to troubleshoot my starter generator problem?

voltage jumping all over the place

thanks

Thanks Ken and Dennis, I was afraid that removing the inner rod would require destroying it.

Currently, the rod does move, but the spring is not strong enough to make it "pop up" after pressing it down.

I will wet it with penetrating oil, it will be a couple of months before I am ready to start putting things back together. In the mean time, I will practice bending a new one, just in case.
