The black cat that was hanging around last summer showed up again on Saturday. He's one tough cat if he survived outside in all the snow and sub zero weather this past winter.

Kraig: Life is good! He? did what cats do - survived. I'd guess not one to be made a pet of, one to have his? survival instincts applauded.

Kraig-

It looks like "he" would be a good candidate for the trap, neuter, and release if you have any such program around your area. He's hanging around for some reason. Afterwards he would be a happy outdoor cat and probably calm down quite a bit...even allow petting eventually. Has he got a place to sleep nights? Youtube has some good ideas for feral cat houses.

It's a he. Last summer when he first showed up he would run off when we would open the door but that was short lived and he would eventually let us pet him. He got so he would run to the door if we opened it and would try to get inside but our two cats do NOT like him at all. He's very affectionate and purrs like crazy and rubs along our legs but he won't let us pick him up. I have not approached him this spring. He has access to the lean-to on my shed as well as the crawl space under the shed. My neighbor also has areas in out buildings where he could find shelter. I did think about trying to catch him last fall with plans to haul him to the farm where he could live in and around the pole barn but decided against it. When he first showed up last summer he was covered in ticks and looked really rough. He looked much better by fall and he looks to be in good condition this spring. Not sure of any trap/neuter/release programs around here. He has not been around since I took the photo last Saturday. He probably makes rounds to several houses around here looking for food. We tend not to feed him as we really prefer he didn't hang around and it doesn't look like he's starving by any means.

Now that the weather is warmer and the snow is gone when I get home from work the cats typically like to go out. When I got home and opened the door last night Selah ran out and when he went past I noticed that his face was amber colored! Huh? It took me a few moments to figure out that it was pollen and he must have been smelling the fragrant Oriental Lilies that are in a bouquet setting on the dining room table. Cats...

Well, I went home to get the flowers out of reach and realized that my wife had put one blossom that had broken off, into a bowl of water that she set on the kitchen counter. Selah wasn't smelling the flowers he was drinking the water from the bowl and got the pollen on his face. Even though we always keep a bowl of fresh drinking water set out, Selah loves to drink water from the bathroom sinks, shower, bathtub, the kitchen sink or anywhere else there happens to be water. There was no sign that he had chewed on the leaves, petals or stamen, I think he just rubbed against the stamen when he was going for a drink. I just hope he didn't inadvertently ingest any of the pollen...

Saw this on Face Book, the cat was awesome and fearless. On the other hand the mother totally lost her mind and made the little boy run in by himself. I don't know why she didn't pick him up and protect him like the cat did.

Keith - Mother was chasing dog.... It had gotten loose from the next door neighbors yard...

After 2 solid days of watching Carolyn and I re-do 3 flower beds, hauling water and working the garden, these 2 are really bushed!!!

Got the right idea, I believe though!!

Kraig, I loved the pic of Selah with bright YELLOW pollen on his face..tooo cute, and what a beautiful bouget of flowers.

I've been laying low for the past few months, but that doesnt mean I haven't been busy with the kitties.

This morning I heard a baby Robin chirping outside and it reminded me of Wednesday when I had taken Fancy out for a walk, always a leaisure walk since he's so heavy( he always acts like he hates the word FAT..so I try to not hurt his feelings. Anyways, he went onto the little patio area between the house and the garage. Not a problem but I heard a wee Robin talking and the parents were going nuts with Fancy. Since my eyes are far from the best it took me abit to find the Robin. It was perched on top of cubby parts. I didn't think Fancy had seen it, and when I turned for just a minute and then looked back, he had almost wedged himself between two parts to be right below the Robin. Is this like open wide and wait for the baby to drop into his mouth. I knew I had to remove him from there and didnt want to startle the baby so I quickly swooped in and gathered him up and got out of there. I know he wouldnt have hurt it, as he is so tender with all his nature buddies, but he didnt need to be RIGHT THERE..with the baby. lol.

I took a video of one of our drives around town, which we have to do to keep Fancy happy. Always he's on high alert when the phone rings when marlin gets off work and he knows the ride is coming. Its about 5 minutes long and is still loading up on my Facebook page.

Scott, I forgot to comment on the " cutness" video you put up. One never forgets experiences like this one if you raise wee ones due to complicating circumstances. It sure brought back a LOT of memories for me..thanks for sharing. I have watched it over and over and see something a little new with each of the kittens each time.
