Ever seen a 25-20 shoot it’s one third the size of a 30-30 and the same chamber pressure the bullet hits the target then you hear it !!!!

If you can get one for a good price, I would say get it. All these senseless shootings have driven people gun crazy. Guns and ammo prices around here have gone through the roof! It is hard to find a nice bolt action rife of any kind at a decent price.
Have you seen what a box of primers (1000 ea.) is going for now? I used to buy a box for around $20-$25. now they are $150 and up!

The old Stevens I have was given to my dad years ago, because the stock was busted off. He had another stock made for it, and gave it to me. Wonder why he didn't use it? I "manned up" for a while, but wimped out pretty quick. Even put a thick rubber buttplate cover on it to help.
I don't care for using a shot gun. I got tired of picking shot and hair out of squirrels and rabbits I shot. My single shot 22 works better.

Marty,I started on squirrels with a 410,didn't take long to understand shot penetration.My aunt (who was from N.Carolina) taught me the intent and accuracy of a 22 and insisted she wasn't cooking my critters that were taken with a shotgun.. until muzzleloading became a passion that's all I used was a single 22....You don't need a 45 to smoke a critter but ramrods on 36/32 are so small they are easy to break...

Educate me on this 36/32 please. Pics are very helpful too. I am not familiar with black powder calibers other than .45 & .50 cal.
Did see a small pistol advertised when I was a boy. Always wanted it. It was a double barrel derringer kit called "snake eyes." I think it sold for about $30.

I have had 32, 36 , 45, 50cal BP guns. 32 cal was a pain. 36cal was my all time favorite. Had 3 different 45cal for hunting and target ( one made by Tingle the best) 2 50cal for hunting. Have a 45 and 50 still but don't hunt with them any more. Friend has a 40cal that he hunts with that was custom built in Tennessee sweetest ML I ever shot.

I have a few pics....top 20 ga. flint...45 cal perc...45 cal perc...40 cal flint...50 cal perc...50 cal perc..2 /45 cal flint pistols...Ramrods of smaller cal are smaller as well which makes them much easier to break. For instance a 50 cal. is .500 uses a 3/8 ramrod a 32 by comparison is probably less than a 1/4 ..It doesn't take much flex to cause a ramrod to snap so if the ball is only half way down the bbl you have a serious problem.An air pocket in a mzz load is an invitation to split bbl and maybe a hole the face also...One can moderize and use fiberglass ramrods or even alum but us old school folks prefer "original"....more questions ? happy to share experience...

I use for turkey hunting..The 12, I've managed to miss 1 already.I hope you all can blow this up enough to see this awesome stock..Inlays are ivory from old piano keys

My old ones were stolen in 2000 when we moved to Tennessee. All I have now is a 45 and 50 cal Thompson but no photos. Some where I have photos of me at Frendship Indiana competing as a mountain man about 50 years ago when I was 28 to 30 and was not as good looking as I am now.
