Upgrade NowI changed over to Amsoil synthetic, transmission/hydraulic fluid.Welcome from Painted Post N.Y. What fluid did you use ?
I was very aware of the level of fluid, but it didn't seem to come up to the full indication on the dipstick.I changed over to Amsoil synthetic, transmission/hydraulic fluid.
Thank You. I appreciate a place where I can ask for help before blindly replacing parts.Welcome.
Very common, bad relief valve. They can be sent out and rebuilt. Also, good quality replacements are pretty reasonable. See the board sponsors.Thank You. I appreciate a place where I can ask for help before blindly replacing parts.
As for the leak from my transaxle, further checking shows the leak comes from the left side relief valve on top of the tranny. Appears to have a vent hole on top, where it's leaking. Is it a bad valve?
Not that I am aware of.Al, WELCOME!
Any relation to forum member Brian Albrecht? He lives in Wisconsin now but I believe he is originally from New York.
Thank You, Mark. So I can assume it's the valve being defective? I was thinking of replacing it but $460 is a bit much. Thanks again.Mark Cafone at: www.machtechdirect.com can fix you up on repairing that valve. I would send both in for rebuild as the tractor will be down anyway. Good lick.
Can you supply me with a web site for them? Thank You.You can buy a pair of aftermarket valves brand new for under $175. OEM Cub valves are stupid expensive.
I understand that the transaxle requires a B 6, Hy tran fluid. I can't seem to locate that type oil anywhere locally. Any help in other compatible oils?Welcome from Painted Post N.Y. What fluid did you use ?
Thank You.Just bought a gallon of HyTran from the local Case/IH dealer. With NY sales tax it was around $28.
Original Hy-Tran has the quality that it absorbs moisture up to 1% of its volume. It's good stuff, and has a distinctive odor!
