Have had my 982 international Cub Cadet 19.9 Onan two cylinder a few years now there was some small things that needed to be done but for the age is expected she only has 1661 hours, just got her all set up for the snow that is on its way weather we want it or not, ended up near the end of last season taking the impeller fan 13 spline insert out of it went and bought a new 13 spline coupler cut it in half so have spare drilled the fan out and had it presses in and tacked hope it will work alot better now it shur stopped the rubbing on the housing will test it out in the next month as it was too late in the season last year to try it out. IT has the 50 inch mower deck snowblower and tiller, three point hitch, pro and hydraulic hook ups

Beautiful ole rig. On the ID tag the VIN begins with 142, 143, 144. For example, a 1983 982 VIN begins with 143, 1984 is 144, etc.

Thanks for the information I will certainly check it out when I get a chance Thanks

145 would denote year 1985, which I believe was the last year that the red IH branded tractors were available.

Must have hit the 6 instead of 5 thanks for the information so this was probably the time MTD was starting to take over ?? Correct

IH manufactured approximately 693,658 regular-production Cub Cadets 1961-1981. MTD took over in the spring of 1981 an created the Cub Cadet Corp. Their serial number is 700000 and higher.
