Looking for help with a 482 with no spark, just bought this tractor. There are 2 wiring connections near the starter that go to the coil , 1 wire is not connected to anything, see picture. The one on the left had a wire running to it but the other does not. Anyone have a picture they could send of yours? Anyone have a wiring diagram? All help greatly appreciated!

The wire going to the coil should have 12vdc on it correct to produce spark?

No...it is a magneto. Look at the wiring diagram that was previously posted. Magneto is non grounded to produce spark, and grounded to not produce spark. Applying voltage to it will ruin it.

I see the wiring as you described, I just don’t understand the functionality of it. There are 2 wires going in behind the flywheel, the one to the alternator through the diode. The other one connects to nothing, just dead ends below the starter, not sure what it connects to behind the flywheel.

Finally figured out the spark issue, the mag was bad and replaced with a new one, the new one eliminates the points and condenser. Just clipped the wires and connect the ground wire to the new one. Next job is clean carb.
