I personally have kerosene in my parts cleaner tank. I think any of those you mentioned are fine. I dont recall any plastic parts in the gearbox - that is the only concern with solvents to me.
I would watch the compressed air you might blow the trust bearing apart.

The grease I cannot answer -

Very good point! I could see those suckers flying across shop never to be seen again!
I have that Nasty stink'n stuff from NAPA in my parts cleaner. It works great, but man does it stink. The wife HATES it when I use that stuff. She can smell it on me for days supposedly??

you can try the gojo supro max. I find it does pretty good on the smelly solvents and it works even if your hands are wet unlike some of the other "waterless" hand cleaners. My wife likes the smell of the gojo orange!. not trying to pitch gojo but it is a northeast ohio company so around here their stuff is everywhere!

Well picked up another 450 blower yesterday - for parts. The bottom of it near the cutting edge is rusting out good so as of now it's useless to try to blow snow. Plan is to hopefully get the shaft out of it to use as a replacement for the one that the retainer clip messed up. I also got an adjustable chute flapper with it that I might use??? I guess the 451's or newer models had this option???

Anyone ever have problems with their 450 blower hitting the bottom edge of their grill on a 782? Can't remember if had this problem with last 450? Is my grill possibly out of adjustment?
I have the shorter straps on with the shorter slots so it won't over centre on me. Mr Don T informed me of that many years ago if I remember correctly (RIP Don T).
Have to find my manual and see if can figure out. I forgot what a bear these were to install! :censored2::censored2:

Anyone have a couple pictures of the deflector that is supposed to go in the bottom of the chute? The one that keeps hands out.
Want to make one for mine. Absolutely crazy price from Cub considering there is nothing to them!
Other than breaking the belt tension spring the other day - blower is working good. Took 2 to make one, but all good!
Never did hear back from Quebec company about the couple - so picked the best of the two and greased it up good and put back together. If we ever get out of this virus closure, will see about getting one made so can rebuild the fans I have.

Here's a photo from the manual for the H42-H48 manual that shows one type. Looks to be ~3/16" rod to me.

Thanks Kraig. I'm guessing it pivots on the bolt (larger hole in the guard to allow it to pivot) then the small spring keeps tension on it? Agree on the rod size, not very large.

Thanks.
I think I might have it figured out now??? Its actually different from what Kraig posted. The ones for plastic chute on 450 bolts to the chute itself on the sides. The ones you posted Kraig bolt to the bottom ring. Thats what my QA-42A is.
Thanks guys

So this is what I came up with - thoughts? Spring will be on the RH side so it can attach to the bolt in side of plastic chute.

The original is bolted to the plastic chute with shoulder nuts. Below are the basic measurements of the deflector. I can take more measurements if you need it. If shipping to Canada was not so expensive I would just give it to you. It’s been on my shelf for years. I am never going back to the plastic chute so it does nothing for me. It never stopped rocks it only keeps me from being stupid...no deflector can stop me from being stupid!!!86E91976-35ED-4A00-AD83-F1706F7C730A.jpeg71C3AFA6-144E-4502-AA9C-84B7BD36C380.jpegC8FC6982-A090-4419-B9EB-6A77CCCAB3C2.jpegDD3CC968-08F5-4C43-938F-B39C2B7E381A.jpeg

Thanks! This will help with the rest of my head scratching. Appreciate it.
Yes, no one wants to come to Canada..... just the immigrants! :feint:

Finished up the safety for the chute this morning. Hopefully it will work well. Might try it out this afternoon if wind dies down?
