I have a Cub Cadet 2135 that started fine. I backed up out of the shed and got off. When I got back on it and it was dead and would not even light the lights on the dash.

I assumed it was the battery and charged it. Put it back in and it would still not start or turn on the dash lights.

The battery is only one year old and has a charge.

Where do I start to look and how?

Depending on what year it is, I'd start with the seat lockout switch.
It also has a brake and reverse switch.

I don't think it is that since there is no light on the dash. In the past I disconnected it and it still started just fine.

Michael, there are some fuses in the wiring on the 2135, have you checked those? I was going to post the schematic for the 2135 but there are three different versions based on the S/N of the tractor. You can view/download the schematics from HERE Note, the link takes you to a PDF file with schematics for a BUNCH of different tractors so you'll have to click on the yellow "2000 Series" button within the PDF file and then select the 2135 schematics that matches your S/N.

Turns out it was a disconnected wire to the starter.

New problem is the engine stalls after running for a half and hour or so. I let it cool for a while and it starts and runs fine until another 1/2 hour or so. Can it be overheating or a fuel pump problem?
