You will have to remove a bunch of the sheetmetal around the cylinders and such, but I would think you should be able to do it in the tractor.
 
I think that would be pretty difficult if not impossible.

It might be best to just pull the engine. That way, you can clean up any debris under the flywheel shroud, and if I were you, I'd replace the flywheel end crank seal. I don't think I've been into a single Command yet that did not have that seal fail.
