What is the best way to remove the starter from an 1862 Cub Cadet? Thanks

Based on a post on a similar model, I believe you must unbolt the engine and raise it.... (Where's Myron when you need him??)
 
There was a post that showed you could use a bent wrench and then slide the starter forward without raising the engine maybe someone will remember. it might be at the other site. i assume it has a mag18 in it and this was for 82 series which i think has basically the same frame?
