149 and extras!

I'm second owner of this still running Cub cadet 149. It has the kohler engine and starts easily even in winter. I only used it for pushing snow and pulling a utility trailer around my place. It has wheel weights, front IH plow, chains, and all accessories in pictures. It leaks a little oil and the carb will drip gas if I don't turn off the inline valve. Power assist steering is out and lights don't work.
I want to sell this all as a package and am asking $750. I live in Spokane WA and will deliver within 300 miles.

Well, I'm not sure. (Not a mechanic). But earlier this year I found some fluid under the tractor and the steering was really stiff. I followed the silver arm back under the tractor and it looks like a power steering unit. Am I mistaken?

I added it to my 149 , not that hard as the 1450 and the 149 already have ported pumps.

That's the standard mechanical steering. No power assist. The fluid you saw is more likely leaking from the hydrostatic pump which is at the front of the transmission. The stiff steering is probably due to a worn steering gear or out of adjustment cam follower, and or the steering lever is loose, which could allow grease to leak out, leading us back to the fluid on the floor.

Thank you. Time to pull out the old grease gun. And the fluid on the floor? Just like any old harley, it's always marked it's territory!

Bob, I work on a variety of mowers.One thing is very common,rarely do I find front axles have been greased.Quite often I end up jacking up the front before greasing and often have to use heat to get the zerks and axles to take grease.Doing this always makes a huge difference in steering effort.If you have an extra set of hands to turn the wheel back and forth it's even more helpful.....I have a 44 yr old Low rider that still marks it's spot..

Flip the end of that drag link around so it won't hit the step bolt on the side of the frame. Looks like it has and that's why it's bent
