I am o overhauling a 104 and while I have this standing on end I would like to service what may need doing. Will someone please supply me what info I need to check out what's inside to service
the brake system lock up. and how

WELCOME: The brake is just the large piston part that the lever on the front of the transmission is pushing against a gear inside the front of the transmission. It is metal to metal submerged in 90wt gear oil. About the only reason for it not working is the lever on the outside of the trans rusted and stuck and the piston stuck also.
 
Arvon: I second what Ed said, but would add that if you want to service it, about the only thing you need to do is adjust the bolt so that it engages where you want it to (versus the clutch action). Instructions, with pictures are in the Service Manual, I think; or perhaps the owner's manual. See the <<Manuals>> section on the front page.
