    Cold Start

I saw a guy who had a light duty charger/maintainer plugged into an outlet controlled by the light timer on the garage door opener. The light (and outlet) would go live every time the opener operated, and I believe he could adjust the time it stayed on. If you opened the door in the morning to...

Cub Cadet qa42a soon to be qa42b snowthrower

Could you wire a rheostat between the switch and the PTO? Set rheostat for low voltage to start, then ease it up? Might be worth spring loading rheostat to ensure full voltage when operating. Just a thought.

Shane P, What kind of muffler do you have on your 149 on the previous page? Looks like some bullet-type shape, or is it just a weird angle?

    Coffee anyone?

Kraig, How do you keep the tag from getting stained brown? Do you make your coffee that weak?

Lrehm, To avoid dealing with the mess, why not trade the mounted wheels/tires/fluid to somebody in your area for something less problematic? Mbroz, It's good to get several points of view expressed on here. I wouldn't worry about the "ruckus". If Ken was posting, THEN you might see a...

    Graduation

Dave, Congratulations to your family. As a teacher, I've helped thousands of kids graduate. It's great to see, but I also think about the ones who didn't make it that far. Thanks for all the help and guidance you've given him to get him to that stage.

Another point on the throttle shaft screws: If one vibrated loose and got sucked into the cylinder, would you rather have a soft brass one get mashed up and bounced out through the exhaust, or a hard steel one banging around on the piston, cylinder wall, and combustion chamber?

Kendell, Don't worry, Kraig will probably post another series of photos as he uses it, then a series in about 30 years when he restores it.

Lchockensmith, I see you have one of the early versions of the small-block engines... I see it's already board, but be careful of splinters if you stroke it. Wooden you know, I saw another just like it yesterday.

Jay, The 147 is my favorite tractor for tilling. With the electric lift, you can set the depth exactly where you want it. I do have a spring assist on mine, just to take a little strain off the lift, since that tiller is pretty heavy. The electric lift is slower than a hydraulic lift, but it...

Brennan H, I can't answer the first question, but here's a stab at 2 and 3. Regarding the quantity of powder, I'd ask the guy who's doing it for you. He should have a better answer than anybody on here, since he's used to his equipment and setup. For color, couldn't he match the original...

Roger M, Maybe it doesn't need to charge any more. If it's charged the battery after you have run it down a little by starting the tractor, and you aren't running any accessories that need electrical power, it won't need to charge any more. You don't want it to over-charge. What happens when...

Don T, If I had a choice of lifting a snowthrower with a hydraulic lift or a manual even with a spring assist, I wouldn't choose a manual... I put the blade on the 1450 yesterday since I was having a hard time starting the 129. 1450 had been outside, and started within a couple of seconds...
