    Thanks guys ill try setting the govenor by the manual. It does almost seem like it isn't functioning at all. I thought it could also be the high speed adjustment. but it seems that when the throttle linkage is moved from idle to Wide open throttle, that the linkage doesn't even move that much...

    Kraig- The govenor on my 126 is still on the fritz. I put the spring in the hole you suggested, but that made it run as fast as it did before i adjusted it. Is there anything else I can try? The engine definately sounds like it is running beyond the rated RPM. Thanks, Josh

    Hi, i'm new to this forum. I have recently acquired a 1969 Cub Cadet 126. The exterior is in good shape and has good paint, however the motor smokes a decent amount. I got a REALLY good deal on this since it was from a friend so i couldn't resist. i'm not new to old tractors, just Cub Cadets...
