Sorry to hear of your loss Charlie. I'll keep you in my prayers while you work through this.

Rick, I'm doing well and loving retirement. My sons are after me to make a video of the 4 X 4 but I haven't come up with a good idea of what I want to do with it yet. And, I still have the undersized gearbox in it so I can't pull it too hard. I'm thinking about maybe doing something in the...

I rebuilt my articulated Cub Cadet (Artie) and replaced the hydrostatic drive with a gear drive. I had to use two gear shift levers since the drive shaft now goes right through where the gearshift used to be. My son published a video of the finished product here I added a power steering...

Marty, here's a video of my Haban on a Model 70. It's Video No. 4. Hope this helps.

My son got the video of our Jiffy Balling sickle bar mower uploaded to Youtube. You can see it here I did learn that the shield around the PTO was very important to keep grass from wrapping around it.

Here’s a picture of my new to me Jiffy Balling mower. Thanks Kent for giving it up. I used to mow with an H Farmall with a semi-mounted mower. With a little practice you could make a “square” corner by spinning the steering wheel and hitting the right brake as soon as the rear wheel...

I know they're rare, but I'm looking for a Jiffy Balling Sickle Bar Mower manufactured for the early Cub Cadets. If you know of one for sale, please email me at pf2 at evansville dot edu. Of course, the at is @ and the dot is (.). TIA

I just finished my Cub Cadet dozer a couple weeks ago in time for a local show. My son posted a video of it on my webpage over the weekend. It's under the "Special Projects Videos" section. There's also what I think is a neat video of our Haban mower under the "SDE Videos" section if you...

Brian, thanks for the comment. I put a little discussion on the Mini-560 in the "Cool IH Cub Cadets Not OEM but better'n' new ! ! !" since Charlie would prefer that not be discussed here.

Here's another picture from this past weekend. The Mini 560 was actually pretty easy to build. The Mini H was the tough one. If anyone's interested, I have a complete writeup on how to build them on my website here

It was a great weekend for the show at Thresherman Park this weekend in Boonville. The wife and I took 10 of our tractors out. Cub Cadets dominated the garden tractor part of the show.

Craig, a "clicking" solenoid is usually a sign of a weak battery or bad ground.

Clay, after thinking about it a little bit, I'd also replace the plug, points and condenser. I've had them act like that with ignition problems.

Clay, it sounds to me like you might have a valve sticking open. I'd run some MMO (Marvel Mystery Oil) in it for a while and see if that doesn't cure the problem. You can purchase MMO at Walmart or most auto parts stores. Hope that cures your problem.

    2013 L&GT Extravangaza

The 2013 L&GT Extravaganza will be June 7, 8, and 9 at the Fairgrounds in Evansville, IN. (L&GT is one of the sponsors of this site. See the colorful boxes above.) There were 450 lawn and garden tractors at last years show, and they’re hoping for more this year. Besides exhibitors from...

Mike S. The adjustment procedure is here. If that link doesn't work, it's number 22 under Charlie's FAQ. Hope this helps you out.

Mike S. It sounds like to me your governor isn't working. If it were me, the first thing I would check is the governor setting. I know there's a complete description on how to do it in the manual and it's probably somewhere on this site. I'm sure someone will point you in the right direction.

David S. I just "reinstalled" two of those and if this old memory isn't failing, that's the correct orientation. No. 1 has a lip on it that has to fit under the lift arm that's welded to the rockshaft to prevent it from rotating. But, if memory serves me correctly, I had to move No. 1 to the...

Michael, I used David Kirk's idea to use the two short belts on my tiller. I don't know what the jack shaft came off. It was one to those things I had laying around waiting for a project. It's worked for me for several years.

Good job, Wayne. Looks great. The "angle" bracket you have has the extra holes so that it can be used on an Original as well as the later model Cub Cadets. Any suggestions on improvements to my writeup? Glad it all worked out for you.
