Picked up another cub just to get a temporary engine for my out of service mod 70, 7hp. Owner wasn't sure what model he had. It has seen quite some abuse in that a lot of holes have been drilled, homemade brackets added, and the wiring from the regulator was just hanging in a clump. Surpringly...

Well I contacted the seller and it's the entire tractor he is selling. So that illiminates the starter/generater bracket issue. He said the engine runs, doesn't smoke, but starts hard. Otherwise pretty rusty for what I could get out of the conversation. Going down to look Friday afternoon with...

Hey guys my mod 70, 7hp died a few days ago. Haven't pulled the motor just yet, but as part of my decision process on what to do would a 10hp Kolher drop right in for the time being? I have a lead on a 10hp Kolher cub cadet motor, not sure what mod it came from. I am thinking the 10hp must be...

Ok. I guess I'll start by dropping the bowl and taking a look. I've had this mod 70 for approx. 30 years and have never taken the carb apart. (never had a need to)

Novice question alert! Twice in the last week I found after using my model 70 I discovered a small puddle of gas on the garage floor. It was slowly leaking from the mouth of the carb. It starts and runs ok and when I stop engine the leak stops. It doesn't leak each time after use. I tried...

Thanks Marlin I guess I will keep my eyes open for another 42" deck. I agree I would never cut off those cast iron guage wheel brackets. That sure would be a shame.

On my mod 70 my 42" deck developed a spindle problem and some rust under the end rotor housing. I had purchased a 38" deck some time ago off of a mod 70. Tonight I tried to mount the 38" deck, but the deck wheels hit my tires (23x8,50x12.) In the parts look up I see that there was a set of...

    Hydraulic floor jack help

Allen I just noticed your post that I had not responded too. No I never could get the jack to pump up. Funny thing is it just caught my eye the other day sitting in the garage. I quess I should try again now that the temp has warmed up.

    Stainless Square U Bolts

On my small utility trailer/cub hauler I broke a leaf spring. I bought two new leaf springs and removed the old. I new the U bolts would break trying to remove them and they didn't disappoint. My problem is I couldn't find a replacement size locally, however I did locate some exact replacements...

My deck on my mod 70 is getting tired. Going to need some work and at least one new spildle (key way looking pretty bad). Looking at the casting information on the end rotor housing left side (473415R1) and looking in the parts look-up there are two decks with three blades that had that same...

Kendal thanks I did go back and read Myron's post and compared the parts look up "big difference" thanks. I hadn't realized until I saw the parts look up that they added parts on the front of the later model PTO clutchs.

Is there any difference between the front (non electric) PTO clutches? Visualy the two versions seem to differ with different style tension spring and one having 6 raised metal posts on the front. It look like they both mount on a 1" shaft. Can one correctly assembled clutch be substituted for...

Just thought I should post about my long journey with my mod 125 front PTO clutch. To recap I had started with a new rebuild kit and it would not release. I took it apart umteem times sanded the clutch plate and the back of the clutch assembly. I changed back to my old pressure spring after it...

Thomas B. Thanks I will try and get three new springs just in case. I agree when I tapped it with the rubber mallet I also thought it slipped off of the rear of the bearing. At least I got to see it spin almost competly free for a few moments First I tried seating the clutch without the anti...

Double checked and then installed the front PTO clutch again today. The clutch was for the first time releasing 95% of the way. It would still spin my snow thrower auger very very slowly when disengaged. Don't ask me why but it didn't look quite right so I bumped it with a rubbber mallet and it...

Jim Larson thanks. I did measure the thickness of my friction disk and it was 3/16 like yours. So I guess that's correct for my Mod 125. Today I will try to look down a set screw hole while I install the clutch to see when I pass by the end of the bearing.

Jim Larson here are a few pictures. Tried to get a good photo of the pully. I imagined that you wanted to see if the pully was too far forward. Not easy getting a good photo, but I did shine a light and look behind the pully and see it's pretty close to a bolt head that is supporting the bracket...

Thomas Bower very observant about the pressure spring. I started with the new one from the kit and when I took the clutch apart again I could see it was permanently bent so I reused my old one. I imagine that I must have bent it by over tighening my turnbuckle trying to get the clutch to...
