One more question guys... since my 129 had the overheating issue and I've been using the 1000, I had a tie rod that popped out and I dont know if its worn or something but it wont stay together. A nylon zip tie worked to finish the lawn at least... Is it worth the extra money to get the heavy...

OK guys, been a little while since I posted. The 1000 I picked up a few months back is doing a great job - except the fact that it isnt charging the batt so I got to hook it up to the charger after each take at the lawn. Not to worried as I have yet to bother to dig out my voltmeter to...

Kendel, thanks for the pointers thats what I was thinking. The drain I see when the key is on I mean when the engine is running it still shows a drain when it should show a charge. The only experience with Kohlers I have is my 129 with a generator, and the volt reg is right there next to the...

On my 1000... doesnt seem like its charging the battery. If I put a freshly charged battery on it and turn it on it still shows a drain. After mowing for a while if I turn it off it wont restart. Is this a voltage regulator problem? Can anyone give me some pointers on where to begin...

I was going to try my new 1000 for mowing today... after I got a mule drive hooked up and my 44A deck and fired up... flipped the pto switch and nothin'. Huh. I can see the ammeter slightly deflect when I flip the switch so that mesns its getting power right? Is there some kind of actuator that...

Probably a silly question but is there an easy way to add hydraulic lift to a gear drive cub like my 1000? I assume the hyd lifts are part of the hydrostatic trans but not sure if there were add on ones. And speakinf of adding on hydraulics has anyone ever rigged up something for a wood splitter?

Thanks Kraig... I know how you guys like your Z nosed ones the QL probably looks funny to y'all! I dont know how common the 3 speeds were in the QL's but this is actually only like the 2nd or third one I have found on craigslist in all the time I've been looking. And I couldnt afford the rest...

Well after about half a year owning my first cub the addiction is starting to set in... I just got cub #2! I was wanting a gear drive next mainly for garden duty but this thing rides so nice and the constant speed on the hills I might even try it for mowing next. I also liked the QL series...

    Changing tires

Well the tire changer I beleive is what your calling a bead breaker. The tire gets clamped down and with a long arm you pull down on a piece that goes up against the bead. The thing is I am putting so much force on it that it is warping the center of the wheel instead in breakeing the bead. I'll...

    Changing tires

I posted in the IH section but didnt get any responses so figure I'd try here. I got an old set of ag tires on wheels for my cub, they need tubes. I have a mini tire changer (harbor freight model) and I cant seem to break the bead. Using my body weight the rim actually starts bending. Is there...

Ok guys, I need some advice. I picked up an old set of ag tires on rims for my 129 for plowing and such. Rims fit but the valve stem is on the inside... no biggie. I picked up a mini tire changer since I figure I'll be swapping tires a few times. Well I am trying to break the old beads off the...

I'm looking at possibly getting a cub 70 with a tiller. Actually two of them both with problems that I can put together for one good working tractor and spare parts I think. I cant help but wonder, is 7hp really enough for a tiller? It does have a creeper. There isnt any reall difference...

What kind of weight will my 129 pull? Reason I am asking... I want a cart/trailer for hauling stuff around including the cub with my truck. Instead of getting a big garden cart and a trailer for the road, can I just get the trailer and put a ball hitch on my cub and haul around something like a...

Do you guys have any suggestions on how I free up a set of discs I got for my 129? I got one side freed up after 1 application of PB, but the other half is still stuck and its probably been 5 days of spraying with PB. Perhaps there is something that can be rigged up to get better leverage to...

This is probably a dumb question but I've never used cultivators or discs before... for the ones like Patten is selling in the classifieds they dont look like they have a sleeve hitch. Is that right? How do you lift them so they dont dig in the grass on the way to the garden?

Thanks Matt and Dennis... About putting larger tires on... the main issues it seems will be the front. Yes I did measure clearence with the wheels turned and all that good stuff... i didnt check to see how much movement the deck itself can do so I might re check that. Is there a way to space...

I'm wanting to put some better tires on my cub and I've been looking at various atv tires like I posted about a couple weeks ago. Many have said you cant fit much a larger tire on my machine if its used for mowing. I have a 129 with a 44" deck. Well I finally put the mower deck back on to see...

Kraig - that might be a little easier to fab. I plan on getting a 3pt soon just having trouble finding one that doesnt break the bank, so I dont actually have it yet. maybe once I get it will be easier to figure out how to fab a spring up. Are the specs on that spring or will I have to just use...
