Dean, Kraig, Also wide frame wide (8 inch) front wheels must be turned inside out to clear the spindles/axle/linkage on a narrow frame Cub. I put 1000 rims on my 106 last winter and had to turn them around valve side in for clearance. Kenny

David, I'm putting a hot rodded 16 into my 1000. Just make sure you have the correct block on your replacement engine that takes the side mount dipstick and has the tapped hole in the front of the fins (pto side) for the muffler box. Other than swapping sheet metal it should be an easy swap...

Dave, My .02. I always tear them down just to check everything. The price of a gasket set is minimal, and you get to replace both seals which may cause grief later. I also believe that you must clean the block bare after honing with hot soapy water to get rid of all the swarf which could...

Paul P., Gases are ok, as long as they are clear; It IS the breather so you expect to have an oily residue in that area. Blue smoke indicates worn rings and possibly a sloppy piston/bore.

Kraig, We have to get a current photo from the archives, Jim painted the Rig about 2 years ago in gold to match his new 5th wheel camper, complete with matching graphics.

Kraig, It actually IS a 1x8/9 decal (Note lack of bottom stripe) with the wrong last digit. Why do I know this? I'll never know!

Dave B., Come down to Trumbull and we'll rebuild that #30 carb and make it run better than any Walbro! Install a new shaft kit and carb kit and she'll be as good as new! Kenny

Anyone have a pic. showing the engine to ground strap installed on a 1250 or other QL? I rebuilt an engine for a guy and he's asking where it goes. Thanks, Kenny.

IH Cub Cadet Pulling and Hot Rodding

Dave K, .015 is loose for an intake, should be .009/.010 Cold. As far as rotators, On engines that I've seen with them, they are either on the Exhaust only or on both valves. If just one, better to have on the exhaust valve where all the heat is for better wear on the seat. Kenny

Dennis, Kohler Pistons are actually Oval, that's why you have to measure at 90 degrees to the pin below the oil ring land to properly size the bore.
