    M18 Starting Problems

Jim, Yes, you would think. I have a KT17 and three M18's and none are staked. I wonder, after they are staked, you won't be able to remove that shaft. I guess they don't wear, so it's not a problem.

    M18 Starting Problems

Thanks a bunch Kraig, for posting service bulletin 246. I never knew what they meant by staking the governor shaft. Now I can do my engine.

    M18 Inspection

Jeremiah, There was a broken chip out of the skirt. It didn't affect function because the piston doesn't travel down that far, and I was thinking nothing better would show up so I bought them. Well, right after that, a better pair did show up at a price I wanted to pay. I wasn't in a hurry.

    M18 Inspection

Jeremiah, I know when I rebuilt my M18, I didn't like the readings I was getting on the cylinders. The pistons were fine. BTW, I always use a broken piston ring to clean the grooves. Anyway, I didn't want to pay for a rebore so I bought used jugs off EBay. I took a chance, I know, and had to...

Yes, Wayne, you did. I like your idea of the 1" round stock so I'll pursue that. Thanks

I think my posting got missed, so I'll try again. The lift lever shaft has a 3/16" dia. hole for holding it into the lift lever. Since the shaft has to be rotated 90 deg. for a sleeve hitch, shouldn't there be a 3/16" cross hole, or do I need a specific shaft for that?

Now I like to roast my own peanuts with butter in the microwave and put them in a coke. Come to think of it, I'll have some now!

The Cola and Peanut Wars - which is Your favorite

The first time I tried redskin peanuts & Coke was in 1958 when I was around 12 or 13 in my hometown in Kansas. I was hooked! Thereafter, it was our afternoon snack.

Don T., Yes, Don, I appreciate the info. I do plan on buying a new set of lugs, but I don't want a smaller diameter tire if I can help it. Or does it really matter all that much? I've heard the Deestones are 21.5" dia. & Carlisle's are 23.5. Comments anyone?

I've heard that Deestone 23x10.5x12 4 ply super lug tires are smaller in diameter than other brands, particularily Carlisle. Can someone verify that for me?

Can anyone tell me if BKT TR-315 lug tires are any good? I think they are made in India.

Scratch my question, the one I was thinking about is 26 x 12 x 12. I know it won't fit. Thanks Charlie

    This has probably been asked before, but will a 26 x 12 x 12 tire fit a 23 x 10.5 x 12 wheel? This should give it a wider footprint. Right?

I didn't think about using muratic acid on a journal, guess it depends on how bad it is. I just used a sharp knife to carefully remove the aluminum and then polished with emery cloth.
