Thanks Kraig....and everyone else. I ended up buying the QA42A snowthrower for the 225 bucks...the seller is a real nice elderly gent and I just didn't want to hassle him over 25 bones.. He also has a Brinly plow with the coulter, a tandem disc, and a set of cultivators. Plus the...

Correct I was asking about the gear drive Cubs, and the optional hydraulic unit that is belt driven and is mounted on the right side of the frame.. I assume that some type of optional hydraulic unit was offered as an option for the gear drive wide frame.. My question was IF there was a...

Hi Ksanders..Hey I have an 147 with an electric lift that worked the last time I tried it..I reckon the only thing I'd need to locate would be the front bracket stay that bolts to the side of the frame on my 126. I wonder if the electric lifts are stout/robust enough to handle lifting a QA42A...

Questions for you guys who have installed Hydraulic pumps...Are the optional add on pump units that can be installed on the narrow frame gear drive Cubs, the same pump unit and brackets that are also installed wide frame gear driven Cubs? Thanks John

Hyroharry..The elderly gent who currently owns the QA42A did agree last Saturday evening to allow me a week to think about it...I would like to get in on it at 200 buckS..But honestly, since I learned of it's whereabouts, I felt like if it was in real good condition..I'd probably go as high as...

It's ALIVE...ALIVE....2 new front tires, all the grounds clean bright and tight. Carb cleaned and rebuilt. Fuel tank cleaned and sediment bowl/shut off valve cleaned. New air filter. New coil, points, condenser, new coil to points wire...Points set at a "loose" .020. Timing set static with a...

Hey guys..Does anyone have the measurements for the lift rod for a QA42A snowthrower? If I buy it, I will be mounting it on my 126. Are the pretty common to buy? What would be a decent price for one? Also. considering the weight of the snowthrower..Will a spring assist for the rockshaft be...

Danderson...Do you suppose the IC64 coil is the same in terms of resistance as the IC64SB? Thanks John

Hey guys, here is some info on another coil I have turned up. It's a NAPA/ECHLIN ignition coil...Part# 1C64SB..I inquired with the store owner as to the ohm resistance of this part number, he did not know off the top of his head. I spoke with him about the suitabilty of using one of these coils...

Kide and Snicklas.. I agree the .035 seems to be a wide gap and without an advancing/retarding unit of some type, the timing would be way advanced. I'm not sure what the factory spec calls for. But I expect it to be around .020 or a tad wider. Snicklas, you are correct, the pin travel is...

Hydroharry.. Man don't sell yourself short..Your experiences are pretty deep and that knowledge doesn't come cheap or easy..I have paid more than my fair share of the "stupid tax" by not asking enough questions of the right people! Hey I checked out the tutorial on Matt's web-site and...

Hydroharry. I think you are correct in starting with exchanging out the coil..I have found a proper coil at my local NAPA store in the form of a 76 Chevy coil. It has the internal 1.5 ohm resister and produces 20.000-volts. The good news is that it's about 1/4th the price of the current China...

Well now...I've made progress, managed to get one serviceable carb rebuilt and installed, plus sediment bowl cleaned and back on. Cleaned every ground on the machine and both terminals on the starter/gen and it turns over! I'm pretty sure it came down to the terminals on the starter/gen in the...

Hey, boys I almost stepped in it big time yesterday..I had plans of going and looking at the QA42A snowthrower after work..As I was finishing submitting my last parts order for the day, I happened to recall the date 10-10. My wife of 35yrs birthdate and DAY....So I call the nice elderly...

Hey..I meant to ask a while ago, but forgot. I did not count the turns on either of the carb adjustment screws when I removed them from the carb body, while readying it for a dip in the ultra-sonic cleaner. I saw no use in removing the idle set screw, so I "presume" the other two screws are for...

Harry & Kraig...The bracket I got with the blade appears to be just like the one Kraig posted last..The U-bolt is sort of a squared up deal with a small piece of pipe tubing on one side. That particular U-bolt will not fit around the forged/cast section of the lift arm, so I used an OD tape to...

Kraig...Hey thanks for the photo..I now have a workable solution to the lift handle bracket after seeing the fastening loop fits around the yellow forged/cast(?) section of the lift arm instead of the chromed section.. With the overall length of the forked type bracket I got with the blade, I'll...
