Just catching up on the reading here...about climbing in cabs...its pretty tough for me because I'm short...haha. My Original with the SIMS cab is a tight squeeze...I have to put my right leg in first, over the shifter, get it firmly planted in the footrest, grab the steering wheel, and pull...

Bill- I have done what you want to do with re-using the good old style "top" ISO mounts in a few Quietlines I've had floating around. Truth is, it really dosent pay. They may look good, may not be rotted out, and feel like they have thousands of hours of use left, but really it just leads to...

Terry, Ill try to explain this as best as possible with no pics. the easiest way to split an Original is to remove the two long bolts that are on top of the steel frame/cast reduction housing. You can see where these are, if sitting in the seat of the tractor they are right below you, "behind"...

To add, you dont need to put both all on at once, just put the collar on as described below, and place bearing on next. Just make sure when you go to "lock it" tha the bearing is fully pushed into the collar.

Don- yes, the bearing and lock collar have to go on at the same time. If you look at the bearing there is a groove that is "angled", letting the lock collar grasp hold of the back of the bearing lip and tighten it. Put the lock collar on the crank first, the flat side of the collar goes towards...

X2 on Denny's comment...I've been using the Kohler service manual since day one of fixing these engines. I'd choose it over the IH manual any day.

Rick- Glad to hear you got Tom's 169. Hopefully that parts tractor will do you some good. I'd switch the serial # tags like we talked about. The rest of it I just considered parts stock...

Dave- It looks as if you might have some sort of sun shade if you can't find out where the windshield bolts on...that would be kind of sweet!

    Don T. Thats great, but your numbers are off. a K241 is a 10hp, a K301 is a 12hp, a 321 is a 14, and a 341 is a 16. I now see why you were trying to set your 301 the way you were...

Don T. and Harry- The Kohler K series manual calls for 2 1/2 turns out for the IDLE and 2 turns out for the HIGH speed jet for the K301. After messing with around 50 carbs you learn to memorize these numbers. I guarantee that 3+ turns on the high speed jet will flood that engine and make it...
