    WWII Farmall H

Brian, that's great! Congratulations on your impressive restoration to this point. I looked back at your thread and couldn't believe how long ago you started that project. Time flies. Very impressive! :beer_chug::greenthumb:

    Foot control forward reverse

It depends on your serial number. The parts lookup shows three flex couplers (one in front & two in back), but the manual I have shows a s/n cutoff at 622952. Below that number, only one in the rear; that number and up uses two in the rear.

Help! 2072 that cranks really hard!

Great explanation - thanks, Matt! That's the kind of knowledge sharing that makes this forum so great.

Help! 2072 that cranks really hard!

I recently replaced pistons & rings in a 1250 and a 1650, and I noticed the emphasis on proper orientation of the piston, rod, and cap. I did them as the manual directed, but wondered what the effect would be if any of those parts were installed incorrectly. The manual was very emphatic about...

Well done, Brian! The tougher the battle, the greater the satisfaction, right? The quick start and smooth running engine are very impressive. Rock on! :banana-guitar:

Best Way to Remove Carbon Deposits?

I probably know less than you about this, but none of the three heads I've removed (1250, 1450, and 1650) have had a hole like that. But there are some really knowledgeable folks on this forum who will probably weigh in on it.

Best Way to Remove Carbon Deposits?

Tommy - I presume you are referring to the bolt below the spark plug in your photo? (I circled it in red). That looks like a "previous owner modification" to me. Does it go all the way through to the combustion chamber? There should be a couple of threaded holes on the sides of the head that...

    sleeve hitch for old 1250

Tom - You might want to post this in the Wanted category, so a potential seller will see it.

    Hydro drive

Welcome, Skip. Yes, you open the the rear end cover to drain the fluid. That said, I'm guessing the jerking is due more to weak damper springs and worn slots on the hydro linkage. Look at the FAQs for good info on fixing the slots. New springs are available from forum sponsor, Cub Cadet...

    Refurbishing my 108

Ray - Thanks for that info & pics. I'm missing the lenses/covers for the taillights on the 1650 I'm working on and, of course, haven't found any. At least not that I'm willing to spend scalper prices for! I've been thinking about getting LEDs and you made the decision easy. I had even...

    Four digit original

I wish I had access to a blaster - I'd use the heck out of it. As it is, I primarily used a wire wheel on a drill or angle grinder, but have to shield myself well from the wires that eventually go flying. I guess that's why I've only done one!

    QA-42 Snow Thrower

What's the story? Can't say for certain, but I do know that winters all long and booze is plentiful in northern Minnesota... :roflol: (Still crackin' myself up after all these years!) :roflol:

Decal application on dash of 1450

If my memory serves me correctly, I applied it dry. But I had someone help, so there were four hands getting it aligned and slowly applying it, to avoid air bubbles.

Original, and I want to use it.

Ray - Thanks for that explanation/tutorial. I only have one tractor (a 147) with a starter/generator, and it's currently in storage, but I'm sure I'll need this information eventually!

Decal application on dash of 1450

Kent - I did one on a 1450 for my grandson 10 or 11 years ago, and it still looks great. I put the decal on the aluminum (after thoroughly cleaning and drying it). The texture shows through the decal, making it look like the original. And, it's still stuck tight - no peeling back at corners...

A place for random photos,,,with no specific topic

Nice shot, especially with the flag centered at the top. You're fortunate to be able to work right now, at a relatively low risk/exposure job.

    Belt length.

Emmit, it's working OK for me. Try just googling it and going in from there. Or, the good old "shut off your device, and restart it."

    steering box adjustment?

Larry, yes you can adjust it slightly by loosening the jam nut and turning the cam follower in some. But my guess is the follower is worn badly and won't follow properly. It's really not that bad a job to remove the steering column and properly rebuild the box. There's a great tutorial in the...
