    Best model opinion?

I definitely go with either the 149 or 1450 as easy to come by and best all around. Key advantage over your 129 is the hydraulic lift. I don't think the extra 2hp makes that much difference from your 12 but it's nice to have. Now if you include the Supers in this search then the 1872 is a...

Parts Wanted Key switch for 1000

The brake pedal has to be engaged. The brake is off in the pic.

Tractor For Sale Beautiful 1450 Hydro for sale

One little Cub!!!! 1450 has got to be one of the best ones. I believe I said before if I was in the market I would have snagged it myself, even though there were some hacks that bothered me, which I detailed. Hopefully you'll post some info about your restoration. 40-50 more years means it's...

Tractor For Sale Beautiful 1450 Hydro for sale

Glad you got it. Let us know how it is and what you end up doing with it. I did say it was a fair price at $495 and worth more than that in parts. Hopefully you keep it together.

Tractor For Sale Beautiful 1450 Hydro for sale

I agree with Matt G. There are 2 styles and this 1450 is likely the later style with the clamp. It also has 1" front spindles and it has the later style steering wheel with the silver triangular IH emblem - all features of a later production unit.

Tractor For Sale Beautiful 1450 Hydro for sale

Charlie - you're right. I really only began posting because Mark mentioned he appreciated the feedback. Please go ahead and remove my posts (since I can't seem to do it). I really agree with Matt G about this site not being the best place to sell units. Maybe accessories or attachments but...

Tractor For Sale Beautiful 1450 Hydro for sale

Mark - as much as I hate to say this, if you can't get the $495 then you should consider parting it out. You could probably realize more than that. At least $200 for the complete engine (with videos of it running). At least $100 for the rear tires, $100 for the deck,$100 for the headlights...

Tractor For Sale Beautiful 1450 Hydro for sale

I'll bet the mule drive pulleys are cutting into the front axle. Your 149 hydro lift probably uses a 1/8" roll pin to hold the handle in place. The 1450 in the listing is a late production unit and should have the updated clamp instead of a roll pin. The seat seems to angle back to far so I...

Tractor For Sale Beautiful 1450 Hydro for sale

Well Mark, it does have some hidden hacks, or at least a little hard to see hacks, and they are probably holding up your sale. It should be well worth $495, and actually more, but the hacks I see put me off. I'm not a buyer at this point but wish I was. I'm really surprised Jack Casey could...

    122 Trans question

Well, your unit must have been submerged at some point and water got into the Creeper thru the breather as you thought, but not into the rearend that way. Must have gotten into the rearend thru the shifter cover, etc. and joined the accumulation from years of use. Glad you got everything taken...

    Newly Acquired 149: Modified Deck

As Matt said, it will fit but you need the correct mule drive and subframe. As I recall you currently have a 48" deck, the mule drive for which will have pulleys aligned straight front to back. The mule drive for the 50" deck (on Facebook) will have pulleys with an angle towards the left side...

OEM Starter and PTO for 1650 Hydraulic

I don't think a failed starter or a failed front PTO have any value. You might offer them free to someone that wants to pay shipping but I really doubt you'll have any takers.

    Cub cadet 1250

Thanks for the investigation David. I didn't want to call it a lift arm because people immediately think 2 (at least I do when someone says arm. Otherwise my thought goes to one-arm bandits). And you're certainly right about 3/8" steel being hefty material. Because of its shape it's hard to...

    Cub cadet 1250

Yes, you can use a wide frame lift rod (28") and bend the lift rod bracket on the NF blade. The only difference between a NF and WF blade is the lift bracket and most people don't even mention that because it can still be used. Sometimes it doesn't actually rub the side of the lower grill...

    Cub cadet 1250

Well, couple other things could be an issue when you try to use it. If it's a narrow frame blade then the lift rod will be about 30" long (center to center of the L-shaped ends) and your 1250 will need a 28" rod. Also the bracket on the A frame of the blade, that the rod connects to, will need...

    1450 with No spark

I don't understand how what you said is happening. Only thing I can think is you're using the wrong gap on your feeler gauge. The "S" indicator is on the flywheel and should be the point where the points just begin to break open.

    Cub cadet 1250

No pics or videos but there is a guide in the CC manuals thread. I'll try to attach it here. It seems to be on the basis of the blade not yet being assembled and I assume yours is already all together. It should still help you see enough info to be able to attach the subframe arms to the rod...

1450 spreading 400 lbs of manure

Well, they don't have to be IH. Weights is weight. Some is better than none. Don't know what the red horse did back in the day. The JD stuff paints up real nice in IH colors, and A/C Simplicity makes a nice smooth fit. Why heck, even Sears had some cast iron that doesn't look bad.

Q: Wide frame chassis. Gear driven vs hydro.

You know, I went and looked at the IH service manual for another reason, and low and behold it has a section titled "Chassis". I'll have to remember that for the future. Chassis does also include the front axle, spindles and wheels. They are the same on the 128 and 169. Whew, hope that's...

    Belt size needed.

I'm nearly positive that a 48" deck. Has all the features I'd expect to see. Now, is the tractor a 127? Well pretty certain it is. It's not a 147 with 14hp engine because it doesn't have the frame expansion. It does have an electric lift which was standard on a 147 and optional on the 127...
