Unknown Part fell off Ultima zt1 54

Assuming it's the same as my ZT1-42, it's one of the hydro release bails for moving the mower when it's not running. One on each side.

    steering issue on a 107

I think you should be able to experiment with the ball joints to determine if you need a longer one, and how much longer. With the steering wheel centered and the wheels straight, remove the drag link and measure the distance from the spindle arm to the steering box. Measure the length of the...

    169 brush painted

Heck, Steve, I once brush painted a car! Didn't care what anyone else thought. Same circumstances, I'd do it again. I've also rattle can painted a Cub, and some may look down their noses at rattle can jobs, but it has zero impact on my life. It's your tractor - you do you.

    steering issue on a 107

Gary - Regarding the steering wheel removal, in the FAQs, #18b has a couple methods. I've successfully used the first method a couple of times, but I've come to prefer Matt Gonitzke's method. It's simple to make his tool and it works very well. With either of the methods, PB Blaster, Kroil...

    Gear driven or Hydro Driven

I agree with David. Having said that, I have the same flat spot on all of mine, as well as the loose-fitting hole. But adding shims next to the snap ring will snug it up and greatly improve operations.

New member. Hello & 1250 headlight help needed

    Pretty sure that's stock, as it's the same on my grandson's 1250 and my 1450 & 1650.

New member. Hello & 1250 headlight help needed

Welcome, Fuddy! Kraig's pics show the lights are grounded under a hood hinge bolt, and the hole you identified is, indeed, for a fuse for the lights. But it doesn't uses a push/pull switch - that gray knob below the ignition key in Kraig's pic is a two position (off/on) rotary switch. And...

    Gear driven or Hydro Driven

My understanding is, it will start moving the arm before the small spring compresses, but the larger spring dampens the movement to prevent a sudden jerk, so it "eases" into motion. The small spring provides additional "anti-jerk" protection when you slam the control lever too vigorously. The...

    Gear driven or Hydro Driven

Yes, it's a snap ring. I don't have any of my tractors here right now, but I'll keep looking through my pics.

    Gear driven or Hydro Driven

That big "washer" is part of that neutral centering plate. If I recall, it is on both sides of the plate. More like a pipe stub through the plate. Below (ignore the painters tape), you can see that the trunion spring bracket is part of the shaft, so you'd have to open the unit and follow...

    1939 International Milk Truck.

That's a great story. I'd love to see a pic of the truck - or better still, a pic of you standing in the driver's seat! Did you wear the quintessential milkman uniform, complete with the big round flat top hat? (In the Air Force, we called them bus driver hats.) That job must have, indeed...

Things that Kill my Cub time.

Marlin - Great to see your name pop up around here again! I thought 15U is the model number of the hydrostatic transmission pump/motor unit? Of course, I know nothing about narrow frames, so I'm likely way off base. But welcome back.

Nice! Whoever said nobody likes a show-off, has obviously never seen your impressive collection! Thanks for sharing that.

New to me "sad" 782, so I will need lots of help here

Your neighbor must subscribe to the old adage, "Don't force it - get a bigger hammer."

Can someone explain the logic try to use the Manual link listed here. Want to see stuff on the 169

Kraig, that's not fair - your guess is based on facts! :goof:

Can someone explain the logic try to use the Manual link listed here. Want to see stuff on the 169

Kraig - That's a great summary, complete with photos. Thanks for taking the time to do it! Gordon - Kraig answered the "when" part of your question, but the "why" is probably anybody's guess. My guess is that the styles changed for the same reasons that cars, clothes, home designs, etc...

    Gear driven or Hydro Driven

Yes, all those parts are available. Just click on the CC Specialties sponsor box at the top of the page, and Digger will get you all set up. And, in case you haven't found the FAQs yet, here's a link. FAQ #14 will be of interest, and has a pretty good pic, too. Cub Cadet FAQs

    Gear driven or Hydro Driven

Brian - I agree. I hadn't seen your post when I mentioned the snap rings. You're correct, once everything else is snugged up, that centering pin should stay put. And, I agree the swash plate shaft (I called it the trunion shaft) is likely pretty worn, but adding shims onto the shaft before...

    Gear driven or Hydro Driven

Yes, the bent arm with springs is the trunion. Repairing that slot and replacing the springs, along with snugging up the linkages, will make it a new machine. Indeed, all of those pivot points should be snug and held together with snap rings.

    Gear driven or Hydro Driven

I don't have a good pic of the linkage, but here's a shot from the back that shows how it should all be snug, parallel, and clipped together with a snap ring. This is my 782, but it's that same setup.
