The story and transformation of "Pinkie" the 1963 70

I realized I never finished off this thread. I was working on this machine to have it ready for the 2022 WNY gas and steam engine association's annual show. And that I did. It arrived Friday evening, and was there until Sunday afternoon. Always a lot of fun having something out at the show...

My First Cub cadet!! Hello my name is Alan im in Upstate new york. I purchased this cub a couple weeks ago and im here to learn!!

I also added the float clip to the lift lever, and used a proper acorn nut to secure the steering wheel, if we're getting into to the tiny details

My First Cub cadet!! Hello my name is Alan im in Upstate new york. I purchased this cub a couple weeks ago and im here to learn!!

Welcome from WNY. Looks like someone had their way with some custom paint on your 70, can't lie I kinda like what they did to the top of the hood, though they shoulda left the hood ornament chrome. I myself have a 70 that someone had their way with some custom paint Then I fixed it by removing...

    Choke question

I have one of the cheap carbs on my 107. The choke on it is correct. I had to remove the ball from the old carb and fit it to the top of the throttle shaft on the new one, for whatever reason it did not have it. Those carbs are hit or miss, and I missed with mine. The idle circuit does...

    K321 Rebuild

I have a question for you all, my 147 which has been sitting for over a year now has a crack in it's block (k321) and I have been under the impression that it would need to be replaced. However the crack does not reach a valve nor the cylinder, or at least it didn't when I last saw it. Would it...

    New 125 owner

Nice machine! Looks to be in pretty good shape. Yes, the hood ornament is backwards, I can see it in your first pictures. Seems to be a common problem, it was backwards on my 70 too. You could see the faint indent of the original orientation in the hood surface. It is correct now!

I won't lie, as someone with a liking of other non-tractor IH memorabilia, I would not hesitate to buy that just for the sake of having a genuine IH branded air horn! would probably put an air hose fitting on it and just blast it at random times

    Saving a Farmall M

Gary, the cylinder head will most likely come off anyway, but with it still being winter I would prefer to leave the engine sealed up for now. Figure I should give it a shot at freeing the engine up beforehand. yeah, definitely going to have to. It will work okay enough to at least start it...

So I pulled the valve cover too get an idea of the condition of the rest of the engine. Little bit of rust, about what I expected. Looks to just be condensation. I loosened up the rockers and got all the valves to close. Then I pulled the whole manifold. Exhaust ports all had water get into...

My thought was to add some of the ATF into the gas tank once it was running. I now have acetone and ATF (though not any name brand) gonna go put the mixture into each cylinder, and I guess we'll see what exactly that mixture does! In the meantime... Edit: the ATF is indeed Dexron

    Saving a Farmall M

Pulled the spark plugs on the M a couple days ago. Report based on what I could see through the plug holes is as follows: Cylinder 1: pretty decent Cylinder 2: water came running out of it when I pulled the plug!! didn't really see rust though, so the water could be recent Cylinder 3: fair...

It has definitely been fun looking through stuff, and a little bit questionable when you look around at the poor condition of the barn otherwise. It's a shame so much of the stuff is beyond saving. Some stuff would be worth saving except we'd have to completely deconstruct the buildings to get...

    Saving a Farmall M

The 460 isn't too bad. The hydraulic levers are kinda stuck from sitting at the moment. Also the radiator needs a patch. I know the hydraulic system is making pressure as when I was initially cranking the engine over without plugs in it I heard it load down a little and when I walked to the back...

    Saving a Farmall M

Just a few more pictures. I located the missing side panels for the 460 that have the "460" badges on them. A couple pictures from inside the barn And then something cool i felt was necessary Lastly, just a couple shots of the white paint showing under the peeling red. Though supposedly not...
