Glen C. For Y2K a friend bought a new generator and the optional propane kit. He wanted me to install the propane conversion before the generator was ever started. I didn't want to destroy that new carb so I built a 1 inch aluminum spacer and installed it between the carb and the engine block...

John L. I have the standard 16x650x8 tires on the front of that 682. I am going to fill the rear ones with fluid and lower the pressure somewhere below the current 10 PSI. they probably won't stand up quite so much that way.

Ed H. You can buy a complete Helicoil kit from Carquest Auto Parts. It should include the tap, helicoils, inserter and some kits even have the correct drill. I can find out the kit # if you need it. I believe its a 14 MM If I am wrong someone will correct me. If you have never installed a...

John L. Per your request here are a couple pics of the SGT rims on my 682.The center to center distance between the tires is 32 3/4" compared to about 27 3/4" on my 149 and 1650s.I think I am going to like this setup.

Digger, That pic you posted looks like a great plan, that solution never occured to me.I have plenty of time to work it out since I mow with a 149.I also have a junk deck so I may make that mod to it first just to be sure I don't ruin a good deck. Thanks for the idea, its looking more and more...

This is my first attempt at posting a pic. I tried to include the whole Haban cable lift modification in one shot. It was really simple to build, I made a bushing to fit the lift arm and the clevis bolt. The pulley mount on the tractor frame is attached to the top front bolt on the lift cyl...

Brent, When I was removing the fore & aft axle play on my 1650s it never even crossed my mind to do what Kraig suggested. I had a few bronze washers in my junk drawer so I used them as shims on both sides of the axle with a new pivot pin and have been pleased with the results.

Kraig, Many thanks for posting the pics for me. I guess its time to hone my limited computer skills. The lift parts for the Haban were made from my junk pile. The main idea was not to modify the Cub or the mower. All added parts can be removed and originals reinstalled. Since I cannot weld...

Ted B. I have a Haban Mower that was purchased new for my Dads 123 CC mounted on one of my 1650s. I cannot say for sure that it is a 402D, the data plate has been gone for years. I made some small parts to mount it to the front axle without modifying the mower itself, the other mount on the...

Does anyone know of a source for the Kohler alternator magnets. I have a friend who wants some of them for a project he is working on, it is not related to CCs although he has about six of them. TIA

Jeff, I had the same carb problem you have and I made some bushings using the same basic procedure Matt G. outlined. I did use a small amount of locktite for installation just to be sure it didn't work loose. My local Kohler dealer doesn't want to be bothered with special orders if it can be...

Marlin & Roland, I have no idea when the tractor last ran or what it did before its new owner got it.I will go out to his place and try to help find the problem. I may have to come back for some more advice. I have five hydro CC tractors and they all seem to prime quickly after a fluid &...

A friend of mine asked me to help with a problem transmission in his 1250 CC. He purchased the tractor and was told that everything worked but it needed an engine rebuild, that was done with no problem and of course the hydro problem didn't surface until the engine started. The problem seems to...

Matt,Ron R & Jerry Thanks for the fast responses, I do want the switch to prevent the engine from starting with the PTO engaged.I was hoping someone had built a bracket for the same purpose. I may have to take some things back apart to install a mounting bracket.I honestly never thought of...

I have a couple of questions for some of the narrow frame experts. I am in the process of rebuilding a 147 and would like to add a safety switch to the PTO control linkage, would someone please give me some advice on installing it. I have an idea in mind but would like to hear from others. My...

Ted B, A few years ago my 149 had the same problem you describe. If you stood by the engine after it quit some times you could hear the valve snap shut as the engine cooled, I was finally able to determine that it was the Exh. valve sticking. When I got it running again I used a squirt can and...

Charlie, Sorry no pics I am not that skilled with computers yet. The deck has no rust holes on top just some acne that could use a little attention. Dave S. The body filler is just for the top and I will use bed liner for the bottom. This is my first deck job if it works out ok there are two...

Does anyone have some advice on what type of body filler to use on a deck to fill in the rust spots. It will be a working tractor,I don't want to take an unecessary risk of the filler coming loose. This will be my first deck rebuild & paint job. TIA.
