I am not sure how long they will last removing roll pins but I have a cheap set of transfer punches that I have used for that purpose a couple times. There are under sizes in the set so there should be one to fit every job. I have had them awhile but I think at the time I bought them it was...

Digger, when I rebuilt my 1650's I researched the part # from my 149 tail lights and came up with the Bargman brand and PN 378 Red. The lens from that PN fit the back plate on the 149. The 149 may have had a different light than the IH-545616-R1 you mentioned but that Bargman PN378 is what came...

David G. I am sure you're talking about Brian Millers Pulling Tractors in Columbia,Mo. I think this is the current link http://members.aol.com/pullingtractor/tips.htm I believe he had removed some of that info the last time I looked on his site. If you have access to a milling machine it is...

Jim P. I used fibreglass resin to repair two coils about two years ago, so far no problems.

Dean S. We were just wanting to see what it would take to resleeve the block. It took the better part of a long day.The sleeve was around $60.oo if memory serves me well. The machine work was free so it was not an extremely expensive experiment. The engine is one of my two spare 301s it had...

Dean S. My Brother & I installed a sleeve in a K 301 about a year ago.We had to find one that was close to the correct dimensions and machine it to fit. We put an aluminum plug in each end of the sleeve and turned the OD to the size we wanted it leaving some unturned on one end to form a...

Richard C. I did think about what would happen if the relief valve came apart. The valve body is not hard and I crimped it back like it was. I hope I never have to post a message saying it came apart.

David E, Alan T. Just before that procedure to repair the relief valve was posted I did the same repair on my 682 without cutting the valve on the lathe or welding it back together.I did use my lathe but only as a 3 jaw vise to pull it apart. It was crimped together at the factory and to be...

Ryan W. I found a broken fibre washer on my 149 deck and used some formica (the same stuff thats on the kitchen counter) to make a replacement about 20 years ago. It is still there and works fine.

George, I had the same problem with my 149,the exhaust valve was sticking open. If you stood beside the tractor while it was cooling off you could hear the valve snap shut most of the time. The solution was to pump some MMO directly into the carb with the engine running about half throttle and...

Lonnie, I had a similar problem with my 682 hood not being aligned properly. I used washers between the front casting and the frame on the two rear bolts, basically just made the grill casting lean forward. That solved my problem but I never was able to figure why it didn't line up without shims.

Digger, The present owner traded something for that 127, I can't remember exactly what he said it was. I sure hope it wasn't valuable.I am going to keep those pics in case I decide to do some mods I will know what not to do.

I found this modified CC127 during a recent trip to visit my daughter. I thought pictures would be worth a lot because I don't think I could describe what was done to this machine. I stopped and asked if it was for sale before I got a close look at it. After I got a close up look at it I was...

Frank, I have a 149 with a 3/8 hole in the frame so you can get to the bottom screw on the points cover. It doesnt have any other cutouts on the frame for points access. I am sure it came that way because I bought it new in 73.

Craig E. I did a quick search and found at least five of those SW tachs on eBay, at least you can see one even if your not interested in buying. Some of them had 0 bids so there may be a bargain to be had. They can still be purchased new, I believe they are well over $60 at an auto parts store.

Craig E. I have a Stewart Warner mechanical tachometer that can be hand held on either end of the crankshaft. It will read up to 4000 RPM CW or CCW. They are available frequently on eBay and can be used on just about anything that turns, electric motors, farm implements etc. I use it to adjust...

Glen C. I never thought about taking any pics of that spacer. The guy that owns it is currently being treated for throat cancer so I may not be able to get access to the gen. until he is a little better. I made it out of 1" thick aluminum and used the carb gasket as a pattern for the outside...
