About a 1 1/2 yrs ago i wrote about getting an old cub running for an elderly man and he drove it around for 45mins.This couple struck me as needing some help so I've been mowing their lawn quite some time now to help out. They have no relatives within a 1000 miles..He turned 90 a few months ago...

Cub Cadet 1554 Mower Throws Belt

Doug-Doug..Some folks don't know this but commonly v belts are different angles on the side..A 5/8 belt under some numbers may be a 19/32 under another name. It's alaways best to stick with mfg number because belts and pulleys were meant to be together....I occasionaly use gates belts because...

cub, you can prove the starter by jumping from pos on batt to starter post.starter should kick in.If starter works it's probably loose connections to or from solenoid. You can jump sol.connections also and it will spark when you do..batt input to sol.to output to starter.again it is likely...

Cub Cadet 1554 Mower Throws Belt

Doug, I had similar experience with recently acquired 1554. After parking on flat surface it became obvious with the deck down. The deck hanger in front was the issue it did not hold the front up high enough in any position..I raised the front of the deck by tightening the hanger until it was a...

    speed control repair on 2182

I have a habit of trying to outthink engineering issues. My solution might help some others. Most of us have experienced control levers that won't stay put.Depending on the model the standard answer has been tighten the nut on the crossshaft in the frame. The 2182 cross shaft is below and behind...

    Help please

Getch,It appears to me you just described a sheared pin in item 8 (first drawing)..2 drawing #3 moves the rod #13 and connects the to top of spindle. If items #4 are not moving but steering rod is, then the pin thru #8 has to be sheared.Do not try to drill out remainder,it is hard metal.A flat...

Leshia, note when you're typing a message: on the bottom left it has 3 possibles. What you want is "attach files".That allows you to download pics.Don't assume I know about comp. savvy...not even close..

Leshia, pics will help a lot..Condition is very important..Running and usable matters most. You say "attachments" ,what does that mean? I have refurbished a few that sold around 5 to 600...It seems most young folks are not interested in these old classics and us older persons like to refinish and...

    reycling an elec.vehicle..

My opinion...The mfg of these "super batteries" should be held responsible for recycling them into their components. I don't care if it means more costs. We, the public, trusting and buying should not be be involved in trying to get rid of them.We have zero knowledge of this system..Therefore...

    reycling an elec.vehicle..

Tony, I've addressed part of that issue many times over the yrs...When confronted by a vegetarian who wants to discuss "eating meat" .I have asked "Don't you recycle? Of course the answer from veggy man is yes. I simply say" I'm just recycling grass and leaves"...never get comments to that...

    Help please

getch, the bottom drawing that Dave sent shows breakdown of steering column.Item 14 is the gearbox on the bottom of shaft. There is a pin in the side that follows the part that looks like threads when the wheel is turned. That rotates the outer plate.More than likely the issue is in wheels and...
