My 147 was running rough and would only run at idle on half choke. Any speed above idle caused sputtering. I cleaned the carb but that didn’t help. Checked the points, decarboned and resurfaced the head. Still the same. Seemed to me it was the carb. Blew some air through the carb and everything seemed open. Then I saw the problem. The high speed jet was loose. Tightened up the jet, adjusted the carb and it runs great. Never experienced a loose high speed jet before.

Wow 😮. That is a first to hear of. Usually you can't get them loose. I guess 50+ years of vibration can loosen anything. Thanks for letting us know.
