The tag is all rubbed off of the engine in my 1863. I think it say CH18S but I'm not sure.
Can anybody verify that?
The real question is if the engine from a 2518 will work in my 1863.
Thanks

Yes, the 1863 engine is a Kohler CH18, also known as a Command 18. Unfortunately I'm not sure what engines will swap into an 1863, so you'll need someone else to answer that.

Yes it is a command 18. They shouldn't be too hard to find a decent running one. That engine has been used in a lot of different applications. I think you can still buy it new even. At least you could as of about 3 years ago.
Not sure what your location is but there's a guy in Rochester MN on Craigslist that would have one.
