what is the difference between the fenders on an Original and the ones on the 70/100? i know the bracket is different and the O has the rod between them. but are the fenders themselves the same? i have a pair that i am not sure of. they seem kind of different but its hard for me to tell.

They are different, one is longer. These are pictures of 70 fenders.

It appears you could possibly trim some off of a 70/100 fender and make an O fender by drilling the holes for the pan also. You just couldn't turn an O fender into a 70/100 fender.
Is the round outside part of each fender the same length? Looks like the flat part is closer to the bottom edge of the 70/100. I have never compared these fenders, I just looked until I found the correct ones. Most of the time they were connected to a tractor! :errrr:

Marty, for the price of a set of fenders for either the 70/100 or an O, to use the 70 set, cut and still not be correct, would you not be farther ahead to sell the 70/100 set and find an "O" set? i say that because if you do cut off the bottom it looks like the fender length will be short by about 2". just my 2 cents.

and i just looked, i believe for what a set of used 70/100 go for there are sets of "O" reproductions that need paint for roughly the same price.

i just braved the blizzard to the shop. the fenders in question measure the same length as other 100’s i have. looks like 1 has had some work done to it as it’s kind of bent and twisted. should be an easy fix. i just need to figure out how to crank it the right way in my big vise. i’ll say one thing IH used some stiff metal on those things unlike the crap you get now.
