Neighbor has a 1330

I still have my grandfathers original that I would like to return to service. However the neighbor has a 1330 that he is thinking of selling. He has been the only owner and taken good care of it. Should I consider this machine while I work on restoring the original? What would be a fair price? Or should I just smile and walk away?

IMHO, I believe tye 1330 (1990-1991) is considered a "lawn mower" and not a Garden tractor"
Probably a vertical shaft Briggs w/belt driven deck and transmission
If it starts, runs and cuts good, it would be worth a few bucks, yes.
But I would not get too carried away.

Just my two cents worth, but I would stay away from the 1330 as stated above is a lawn tractor with known trans weakness .

My neighbor had a similar one. My opinion is, if you can get it for a decent price, and it’s in good shape, it should serve you well if you ONLY MOW with it. It was designed to be a lawn mower, not a garden tractor. Use it to mow, leave the heavier work to the Original.

Same idea as the ones you can get from the various box stores now. They do pretty good job of mowing, but don’t beat on them. If you want a new tractor (no matter what color) and want it to be able to do heavier work, you will have to find a dealer, and bring your checkbook.......

I honestly think if I were going to replace my old stuff with something new, I would really consider stepping up to a sub-compact, and with what I’ve seen, as much as it pains me, my first choice would probably be green, then orange...... but this is a completely different discussion........

Thanks everyone. I can not find anyone to repair my original. The major problem is the K161s. If anyone is interested in the repair, come on over. I can get parts from Mr. Houtz but I am not a gear-head, I am a retired nail-bender.
I have a Case 1845C with a bucket and forks for the big stuff. But I am now mowing 2 acres with a 21" Toro push-mower, tough for a mid-60's guy.
Please, I am serious, if you are nearby (not far from Mr. Houtz) and can fix my original, let me know.
