I rebuilt my 106 electrical system, new wires, starter rebuilt and replaced clutch. Runs great, but the cannot shift without stopping engine. I am not sure whether the rear pin goes before or after the clutch release lever. The teaser spring looks ok The clutch cracked after 50 years I put the new one in. My friend tells me that the problem might be in transmission. I don't think so. I took the engine and drive and pressure plate out several times, but don't know enough to figure it out.

A common issue when this happens is the bearing/bushing at the motor / drive shaft connection has debris or paint or ?? in it and causes the shaft to keep turning. Also the alignment of the motor to the shaft can "pinch" on the shaft and keep it spinning. If you still have the driveshaft out, make sure that end is clean and add a little lube/grease to where it sits in the bearing/bushing, and after re-installed make sure the shaft can spin easily with the motor off. If the motor is crooked, you can loosen the mounting bolts and try twisting the motor to different positions and see if the shaft turns free. Then tighten the mount bolts.
